Off for a few beers into Oxford on Saturday with a group of friends. Getting the train in and grabbing food at the Oxford Blues Smokehouse which is on Marston St off the Iffley Road.

Can anyone recommend pubs on the route back into town which are good to visit for a few beers and potentially enjoy some sunshine? We want to end up back in the centre as need to get the last train back to Reading.

The guy who lives in Oxford and normally comes out is away this weekend so missing a tour guide.

Not to good on st Clements and the like, all I know is Be at One. In town though, pubs/bars with gardens

Quod (small garden)
All bar one (no outside)
The varsity club (roof top bar)
Turf tavern (big outdoor space, traditional pub)
Kings arms (small outdoor space, traditional pub)
Beerd (craft beer, no outside)
The red lion (big outside)

In that order. The train station is the other side of town, 10-15min walk from last pub (drunkness dependant)

Turf is a must but will be heaving at the weekend, lots of outdoor space but very tight squeeze in the bar area. Eagle and Child on St Giles is ok.

Too drunk to update, but great day and evening. Stopped off at the Cape of Good hope and sat outside enjoying a few beers.

Took the advice and went to the Varsity Club Roof Bar. Top location and ended up spending 4 hours there enjoying the sunshine and views.

Ended up going to the White Rabbit to grab a couple of beers and pizza before getting the train home.

Thanks for the recommendations, and will try the ones we missed next time.

This is one of my favourite beer gardens in Oxford, nice walk along the river from the city centre...
