Hi all, was thinking of joining a motor club to do a bit of racing and several options are available, anyone a member of any of these and can somebody recommend me one?

Basingstoke Motor Club
Farnborough District Motor Club
Southsea Motor Club

Thanks.

A thumbs up from me for FDMC. I joined earlier this year - a friendly bunch and a good variety of well run events. Don't really know the other 2 so can't compare but I am sure others can.

Sounds good, how would I go about applying for membership. I see I need a proposer and a seconder? What are those? New to this tongue out

I would have thought just go along to one of their events and get chatting. If you don't get someone volunteering then they probably aren't the club for you..... wink

I read your first post and looked at the FDMC website myself - they generally meet twice a month so you could just go along - after all ps01 may propose you, and I would be surprised if you couldn't get seconded just on the basis of that!

Good luck anyway - I think I may go along to one of their meetings soon, so maybe see you there! thumbup

Yes I would recommend popping along to an event and get chatting to people - that is exactly what I did before I joined.

Joining is easy as you just fill in an application form and send it to Paul Prescott the membership secretary. He sorts out the proposer and seconder bit.

There is an Autosolo event this Sunday if you are around.

Paul.

I can also recommend FDMC, there are two annual local sprints as well as the auto solos and 12 car rallies. I'm having a go at the auto solo for the first time on Sunday in my Westfield, so will almost certainly make a hash of it. Stop by for a chat if you make it.

Hi

I'm not going on Sunday but it's fully subscribed with 50 odd drivers so there will be plenty of people there who can give you some advice. Most will be there from 8 onwards and racing is 9:30 to mid afternoon.
