Safety isn't helped by this tool parking his van here several mornings this week, blocking peoples view trying to pull out of Stanhope Road!
If anyone is in contact with the Highways Agency or the contractor please send this picture to them.
Someone from Siemens (doing the lights) went one better today by parking their LWB Merc Sprinter there instead, which was doing a pretty good job of blocking the view If anyone is in contact with the Highways Agency or the contractor please send this picture to them.
Despite the lane closure today it looked like they getting on with laying the top tarmac surface on the pavement / cycle lane up to Riverside Way.
Although their estimated date of completion must just relate to the installation of the lights / current surfacing as I cant see them completing the additional stretch of pavement from Riverside Way to Sainsbury's in the next week or so.

Well credit where its due SCC have just upgraded the traffic lights in West End on the A322 to include proper pedestrian crossings (much needed and long over due as two schools close by)
All just about completed within the month as stated on the information board.
Some disruption but out of peak hours.
Time will tell if the lights are timed / phased correctly however adjustments
and some tweaking will be made.
Its pity however that the road junction could not have been made a bit wider to incorporate a better width of turning lane.
As for the A331 Meadows - waste of money.
And cyclists - it should be a legal requirement to use the paths WHERE provided
to keep your sorry asses of the road.

And drivers? It should be a legal requirement that YOU understand THE LAW that says a bicycle is by definition a "carriage" and as such cyclists belong on "the carriageway".to keep your sorry asses of the road.
There'd be absolutely no need for any bicycle lanes anywhere if lousy drivers weren't getting licences out of Christmas Crackers.
Slow down on approach. Overtake when/where it's safe. Speed up again. Easy-fking-peasy.
I don't currently ride my bike along the A331, but I'd be sorely tempted to start doing so on a regular basis if it becomes clear that your attitude is prevalent amongst local drivers...

Good. Use the A331, and use the path where it's provided, arse-hole. We have endured weeks of disruption, not only to traffic, but to local businesses to provide this facility, so please use it - you ungrateful person!
I've been shot at, blown up, and run over by a van. It'll take a whole lot more than some ranty keyboard weasel to intimidate me, dear boy.
And this yellojerk wants to get behind the wheel of a performance car or a TVR.
Stick to your Cortina's and rust bucket Vauxhall's keep saving your pennies.
As for being blown up and run over by a van - yawn zzzzzz
Just take care on your push bike and use the paths provided at such great cost, don't forget to have your lights in full order, bell and your high vis helmet, body band and stop being a knob jockey .... your a pipe & slippers waiting for
the call to move to Eastbourne.
(Another point have you seen how much cost FFS over £1.2m for that work no wonder SCC can't maintain the roads we already have.)

Just imagine the extra 1500 homes at heartland park right next to junction 4a
Say 2 cars per household that's an extra 3000 cars every morning either driving onto 4a or heading up minley road to the a30, then all the extra traffic from longcross garden city and all the other developments around fleet,Hartley Witney, aldershot, farnborough
It's gonna be kaos very soon like you have never seen in this area before

Yeah because Farnborough/Fleet didn't want the traffic and jobs from a distribution centre! Traffic that would have got straight on the M3 and gone, and jobs that would have been available to existing residents. Now we're getting more residents who will drive all over the place looking for work on roads that are already at/beyond congestion breaking point. I don't think us farnborough lot had much say tbh it was more the toffs in those faux fleet mansions on that so called posh estate were all the houses have cardboard internal walls no garden and cost at least 3 times there worth,
