A331 roadworks
Discussion
I'm going to start using a different route to / from work.
People on the roundabout are behaving as if there are no lights - the lights from Camberley direction on the A30 were fully green this morning as I approached them (so for a full 10s), but people are completely ignoring the fact that the lights on the roundabout are red. The traffic is then stationary and blocks the A30.

It's a joke, traffic in and around Camberley and Frimley is now a nightmare at most times of the day. Gave up trying to get to Sainsbury to but some kids school trousers.
I was told that due to the number of complaints that have received, there is our was an emergency meeting for the council. I couldn't even get out of the girlfriends road the other day

A friend of mine who is not very good geographically has just returned form a few weeks holiday.
She text me about how to get back from Wokingham later. She has decided that the A322 will be a decent option as Google has told her it will only take 30 minutes.
As she still uses a satnav to get to work each day i didn't bother trying to explain about why this would be bad.

Thank you for your enquiry on 07/10/16 regarding the works on the A331 Blackwater Valley Road, Camberley.
Firstly please accept my apologies for the frustration caused by the traffic problems around Camberley over the past few days, particularly at the start of last week when our 24 hour lane closure began.
To try to improve the flow of traffic in the area over the past week, we have arranged for the lane closure to be removed on the A331 Southbound from the junction with Riverside Way to Sainsbury's supermarket. We are also constantly monitoring and controlling the traffic light sequences at the junction with Riverside Way to optimise the traffic flow. We are constantly inspecting the site and reopening sections of the lane closure as our works progress to improve the flow of traffic in the area. Yesterday afternoon we reopened the second lane on Stanhope Road at the junction with the A331 and the traffic signals at this junction are now being better coordinated with those on the Meadows roundabout.
Our work on site last week progressed well and Tarmac, our contractors, have had three crews working full time along the section of the A331 Southbound from Stanhope Road to Riverside Way to complete this section of works as early as possible. This section has now been fully excavated and the next stage of work to install the new kerbing is currently underway. The working hours on site have been extended to 7pm and this will continue for the next two weeks. Weekend working will also be taking place which will include Sunday working between 8am and 1pm. These extended hours and the weekend working will continue as long as it is feasible to do so.
Discussions to find ways to further improve the traffic management and therefore the flow of traffic around the area are still taking place although the situation has improved somewhat over the last week.
We will be keeping our web page up to date with information regarding the remaining sections of this project as it progresses - https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/ro...
We are trying to complete this project as quickly as possible; please continue to bear with us during these improvement works.

Great planning it may be, but surely creating a footpath and cycle lane that virtually nobody will ever use is a waste of resources! Still I get the pleasure of crawling along the A331 before I manage to join the M3 misery - nearly 2 years on and another year to go! Surely we should have moved on from the days of Hadrians Wall!
But then it took over 6 months to build a roundabout on the A3095 for the Broadmoor access road - perhaps the "patients" should be invited to plan any future road infrastructure! They couldn't do any worse!

"Thank you for your enquiry reported on 07 Oct 2016 12:13 which has been logged as follows:
Reference number: ME-286911
Location: BLACKWATER VALLEY ROAD, CAMBERLEY
Details:
Apologies for the delays you have suffered due to the works on the Blackwater Valley Road in Camberley.
This area is very busy and currently incredibly dangerous for cyclists and impossible for pedestrians to access the town centre. By supplying commuters with alternative access with the forthcoming cycle lane we are hoping to see a decrease in traffic. This will assist in both traffic congestion and longevity of the road surface life. Supplying an alternative route to this area is seen as essential works to improve safety and to continue to keep up with the growth of an expanding town with a focus on enhancing sustainable transport access. .
We are constantly inspecting the site and will be reopening sections of the lane closure as soon as it is safe to do so. We currently have three teams working on site and have extended working hours to keep the length of the works to the absolute minimum.
Once again thank you for contacting us. If you have any further queries or require additional information you may find the following page on our website useful: www.surreycc.gov.uk/highwaysinfo

I work on Watchmoore Park and its a freeking nightmare, though I think the last 2 weeks has been an improvement slightly where traffic does actually flow now. They are actually making progress on the footpath too where daily evidence can be seen. Which is more than I can say for the M3.

I agree, I don't see how it can take 5 months? It makes no sense.davek_964 said:
If I was a pedestrian wanting to access camberley town centre, why would I walk up the A331????
I'd go up the A30 or walk up Stanhope road. Did these idiots plan this work without actually checking where the town centre was?

If the email was from an individual mail address and and not a "noreply" address, I would have gone back with that.

Because its most likely being done by the lazy as ferk term contractor. On another note I went from J3 M3 to M25 at about 12:15 today and counted over 45
bodies in their bright orange romper suits.
At least 7 had black hats the rest white (Black hats denote supervisors or office pencil necks)
Still beggars belief how these manning levels are acceptable on a project of that size.
Just come back from a job in Croxley Green a 30 metre sewer diversion for LUL to enable bridge upgrade 3 site staff (Agent, Engineer & Graduate Engineer.) 6 operatives including machine driver
and two 7.5 ton support drivers & trucks + myself (Final Pipe Inspection Survey & Test).
30 metre diversion 3 new manholes on 375mm sewer max depth 2.6m
Quite a few services and concrete to break out.
Job completed in 2 week window.
Working on two way lights.
These Motorway and Highway projects need a kick up the jacksie, work 24 - 7 - 365.
If utilities can up manning levels then so should the public sector contractors.
Rant over off to the Bee for a pint.
Seems to have got much worse again for some reason. Meadows was jammed at 16.15 yesterday, and this morning was just as bad as when they started - people blocking the A30 to get onto the A331.
I know somebody that works in the offices next to Blackwater station and for them it's a total nightmare - they don't even get lights to give them any priority. Mind you, I let somebody out from there yesterday and didn't even get an acknowledgment let alone a thank-you, so sod 'em.
