Thanks. I went in there last Saturday but they couldn't fit me in so I ended up going to one in Farnborough. Will be using them in the future as they're round the corner from us.

Sorry for replying too late, but in case it is useful in the future I've been using Fox Garage in Camberley the last few years and never had nay problems (plus they only charge £35)!

Scrub that idea! Went for a pre-booked waiting test on Wednesday at 10.30 - didn't get away until 12.10! And got an advisory for low engine oil level - WTF is that about! MOT test doesn't require any engine oil does it?

Car is an E46 BMW which does use a bit, but the warning light hadn't come on and sure enough when I checked at home it was mid-way between the 2 marks.

Time to try somewhere else I think!

Every time I have taken a vehicle in for a test - diesel the tester has checked oil level prior to emission test.
Not my old 330 though as there is no oil dipper.
Still at least he has told you - no harm in that. you would be first to come on here whinging if he had not told you

No, most people might but I check mine regularly as I know it uses a bit! And when it starts getting low I top it up!

Maybe there is a benefit to having no dipstick like my Z4Coupe - stops me getting pointless "advisories" when there is nothing actually wrong! If you want to sell the car this sort of cr*p can be a real pain! It can potentially put people off, even though there is nothing actually wrong!

1: check oil before MOT - no problem
2: don't show advisory to buyer - no problem
3: make coffee and roll a large smoko - no problem

But it isn't that simple though is it!

1: I do check it regularly as it does like a drink, but it was definitely OK at the time (and in any case it has a warning light for low level which hadn't come on)!
2: OK, but there is always the gov.co.uk website so there is nowhere to hide!
3: Best plan - got a coffee out of them and had a couple of Old Holborn moments during my wait!
4: Go somewhere that isn't looking for work!

I have used Camberley MOT in Doman Road for donkeys years. They have always been polite, friendly, helpful and have never ever tried to get me to have work done on either of my cars unless absolutely necessary.

Couldnt rate them highly enough and would never go elsewhere
