I know, I know. I've lived here since 1990. In truth it's an easy place to live, the schools are OK, unemployment is low and it's easy to get away from by car or on the train. It is filling up though, most of the gaps between housing estates that existed when we came here have been filled in with housing. There isn't a gap between Bracknell and Wokingham any more and facilities have been slow to keep up with the added housing.

Keep away from M Heron imho as there is a sewage farm there that stinks to high heaven if wind blowing in "wrong" direction.

TX.
I lived there for 10 years, and never smelt anything bad. So would take this with a pinch of salt.

You can smell it when you cycle over the bridge by Tesco and up to the Mercedes garage - trust me!
That said, my sister lived the other side of the train tracks from it and wasn't aware of it, so who knows...

Fair comment Terminator; but that does suggest you haven't lived anywhere else, so don't have much to compare it to!

I've lived in West Ewell, Sutton, Worcester Park, Woking, Ash, Stroud, Sittingbourne, Sutton, Egham, Sandhurst, Binfield & Sandhurst again and wouldn't rate Bracknell in the top 10! laugh

Used to live in Ullswater, which was fine until a certain well known family moved into our block. Hence the move.

Have smelt the sewage works from time to time, especially in a hot summer, wouldn't deter me from buying a property there.

I lived in Martins Heron for > 10 years and NEVER smelt sewerage works ONCE in that time. Unless it's something that's been built there since 2012, I'd suggest it's something the OP need not worry too much about.

PS - The Martins Heron estate wasn't built 40 years ago....

Whereabouts - near Savernake lake? Sure that'll be fine. My mate lived in Crofton Close and couldn't smell it.
I live the other side of the A322, but for the last few years cycled to work through Martins Heron, and would only smell it some days as I crossed the bridge and turned at the roundabout - I guess it needed the wind in a certain direction, and funnelled it down the train tracks. I marked the smelly bit:

Also, just noticed the lane to the sewerage works is "Bogs Lane".

I went to Bracknell once. Bought a Kalashnikov off a Russian guy out the back of his Transit in a car park.

It was a Yunker 4 training rifle. Fires pellets using CO2 but is 90% AK47 and a collectors piece from the same factory in Russia.

What 'family' in Ullswater I too live in GH and haven't heard this before.

I must get to know the neighbourhood a bit more!!.

I lived in Pewsey vale (road adjacent) until 2 years ago and never smelt it once.

Only issue we had was dog walkers tend to park blocking bogg lane despite the signs.
This leads to the sewage tankers getting stuck in or out of the works. The tankers then insist on holding the air horn until car is moved....can’t blame them really.

A relative lived in Fordwells Dr for 6-7 years until late last year and don't recall him ever saying anything about it, and last summer I was 4 days away from buying a house on Whitton Rd opposite Tesco, and wasn't worried about it being an issue.

And work at the "Bog Lane" STW (Sewage Treatment Works.
I don't smell that bad.
