Heading to a pub from Surbiton out on the A3

Any ideas? If I found myself with, say, 2-2.5 hours free in the afternoon, where could I head? I can be on the A3 in minutes heading south, let's say I have 30 mins or so to drive, are there any nice pubs hidden away off the A3 that I could aim for?
Our work give us half days on Fridays, so it could be a perfect time to jump in the Corvette with my mate, head out for a quick drive, stop for a pint for 45 mins then head home.
Anything fit that bill? Basically a nice pub off the A3 between Surbiton and Guildford I guess?

The Cricketers in Downside, Cobham, but don't take the A3. 
From Surbiton head south through Esher to Cobham, then take Bridge Road/Downside Road to the pub.
On the way back take the A245/Oaklawn Road/A244 through Oxshott back to Esher, then Surbiton.
A much more rewarding drive than heading for the roadworks on the A3.

Awesome, this also looks like a great option, both saved! From Surbiton head south through Esher to Cobham, then take Bridge Road/Downside Road to the pub.

To be honest it's less about the pub and more about the excuse to get the car out and have a bit of a drive whilst fitting into the 2-2.5 hour round trip. For me Onslow Arms - then head up Newlands Corner after (great view) and down the other side, then hang a left up Combe Lane for a blast up there and a hairpin (mind the cyclists) - then down over Staple Lane for one of the truly great Surrey Views and loop back by the pub onto the A3
Or head down Ripley Road after Staple Lane then Hungry Hill then rejoin at Ripley for a little more scenic route, plus good lines of sight on Hungry Hill for a little blast.
Pub owned by a family with a bit of racing heritage too whom I used to know.

I'm being such a tech idiot.....I've put that into Google maps on my phone with the places you mention as specific stops so I get that exact route.....how do I now save that as a route? So I can load Google maps and just click on that saved route and boom, there it is.

Open it on your phone, and I think all you have to do (assuming you have maps) is then click on the 6 waypoints and change the first one to 'current location' and then it allows you to 'start' and off you go...Only option I can see is bookmarking this PH page and clicking your link every time? It is indeed lovely, but its quite a lot further away, I'd imagine on a Friday you're going to be out about 3.5-4 hours doing that.Fantastic pub in a tiny village, adjoining the cricket green. Really good food, I'd say a cut above most.

There must be somewhere within the Google maps apps for saved routes or similar?
