Could meet up early'ish (07:30 - 8:00) at Guildford Cathedral, mosey on down the A283, then through the A23 tunnel...
It's allegedly possible to park on the road above Maderia Drive, but no matter how early I've got there before, always ended up parked under Regency Square - a bracing seafront stroll away.
If you get bored with the action, plenty of retail opportunities nearby, have fun on the pier or tryout any of the myriad of entertainments availble in Brighton
