Yeah that pretty much sums it up actually... but I didn't think the speeds were that ludicrous in terms of how they were reached... but your right there seems to be no surge in the back when you floor it. Nice sound, a quiet metallic hum on kick down otherwise silent...
Sorry utter rubbish, obviously not a RS4
Errrm ?? It was an RS4, Sprint Blue, 4.2 V8 naturally aspirated... I'm not saying it wasn't fast as it was, Im just saying I expected it to feel a bit quicker... No need to get all on the defensive

when did you drive araound the car park i did not see you come up the drive!!!! I am not in the main car park... If you turn right before you get through the main gates you would have seen it then!

The blue one would have been a P1????

Steve
Yes it was although I wondered whether it was one of those 22B thingies... not an expert on Scoobies. I just thought I would trawl up there out of curiosity, had been in Weybridge for lunch.

Sorry but that's utterly rude.

Have you ever driven a turbo powered car? I ask because the power delivery between a V8 and a turbo powered car is completely different. My brother even commented that after having a ride in John_r's M5 (good driver and not afraid to give it plenty of right foot) that my turbo charged S2 felt quicker. As he was saying this we watched John R dissapear into the distance, which I completely expected, but the point is the delivery of power.

I think the chap was refering to the kick down part Rob? They don't make the RS4 in auto... (at least, i don't think they do)

Or he's a plonker and was driving a 3.0 Auto with an RS4 badge rather than an RS4 rofl

That of coarse is totally possible rofl

Did they do a standard S4 V8 auto ?

Could it have been one of those?

Ah I see. Perhaps he meant down change as opposed to kick down? Unless they actually make an auto? Don't know enough about them to be honest as I've never been in one.

No it was a manual RS4... I wish I hadn't said anything now, the car was very quick, qucker than mine, just thought it might "feel" a bit quicker to the driver, that was all...

James,
Please tell me you've not been going test driving cars you have no intention of buying.
James I am with Phil on this one.

I am sure in your line of work you love your time being wasted by the "great unwashed", same goes for others.
People in sales get a large percentage of their money from commission, they don't need their time wasted by "tire kickers"

You should know better

There endeth the rant smile
AGREED! really annoys me that some people think its their 'divine right' to go round test-driving cars then posting their 5-minute 'opinions' on some website. To go into a car dealership and waste the sales chappies/chappess' time (not to mention that he/she might actually miss a sale by being out of the dealership) purely to enable you to live out your childish fantasies and bolster your claim to be some sort of self-professed 'car/driving expert' is out of order. IMHO!

rolleyes

ps this is my first 'rant'...feel much better now... biggrin

ps i am not a car salesman! wink

The website I created was to help me and be used as a reference for some sort of driving career later on. It is purely factual and is like a CV, and yes there are details of test drives on it. I thought long and hard about whether or not to post a link to it on my profile for the exact reasons that have come ot light here i.e people who don't know me sniping and getting the wrong idea. I don't profess to be any sort of "driving god" in the slightest, I simply enjoy driving and am trying to do/learn as much as possible about it. I never critiise others driving and nor do I "big up" my own driving - I have done my utmost to show respect to everyone I have met up with and driven with through PH. I do that through choice and continue to do it because I have so far got on well with everyone I have driven with/met.

I understand Swerni's original comment and respect it, mainly because he is a mate and I know how it was intended when he wrote it (I think anyway). But for you to come on here, having never actually met me, and accuse me of having childish fantasies or self professing myself to be a driving god is a bit low in my opinion. I have now removed the link to the site so that nobody else misunderstands the purpose of the site. As for the test drives, I dont ever remember stating that I just walk in off the street with no intention of ever buying, or planning to buy a car. Like I say I am always on the look out, and I plan to drive cars that I have particular interest in. I suppose my idea of putting inheritence money towards a dream car is another of my childish idea's it it?

I'm sorry that I had to reply like this but I felt I had to. At the end of the day I know who my friends are on here of which there are many, and I couldn't care less what others think. And thats all I have to say on the matter to be honest - Im not going to keep replying to this thread and fuel it anymore.

Dizee dont you ever wish you you didnt bother replying!!!

I dont think anyone can say that they have not wasted anyones time going on a wild goose chase.... Saying that a salesman will miss a sale just because he is out on a test drive is utter bull. The person is unlikely to drive 30 miles to another dealer so to see a salesman straight away. Bit of common sense please.

I have walked into a dealer and wanted to speak to a salesman but was on a test drive so i waited, something that us english seem to do so well is wait there turn with out making a fuss.

You're kidding right?

how many petrolheads would pass up an opportunity to test drive a fun car if they had the chance?

and what gives anyone the divine right to be judge and jury on someone that chooses to test drive a car?

as for salesmen losing sales, it's far more likely they'll lose a sale because of a c**p attitude than 15 mins out of the showroom. especially when any well run dealership will either have adequate cover to ensure no customer is left alone or will have dedicated test drive staff. but i guess thats well run dealerships, of which there aren't many
