As for the test drives, I dont ever remember stating that I just walk in off the street with no intention of ever buying, or planning to buy a car. Like I say I am always on the look out, and I plan to drive cars that I have particular interest in. I suppose my idea of putting inheritence money towards a dream car is another of my childish idea's it it?
Anyone who has read your website will see that you have test driven many, many, many cars over quite a short period of time - have you honestly intended to buy each and everyone one of these??? - if so you are clearly delusional! (and if you really do have all this 'inheritance' money why would you be driving an astra?!) As you rightly say, I dont know you, however I have a lot of friends/colleagues who ARE very good car salesmen (i had 7 years in car sales myself)and I dont like the thought of anyone going around wasting THEIR time just to fulfill some childish ambition.

To all those who argue the customers will just 'wait for a salesman' clearly you have no clue about the motor trade, for 1 thing you seem to have forgotten that most dealerships have more than one salesperson so of course if unlucky salesperson 'A' is out with some idiot test-pilot and a REAL genuine customer comes in salesperson 'B' will get the sale (cant believe i actually have to explain this! would have thought this was quite obvious rolleyes ?)

For these reasons despite point "d" I would never go test driving cars I had no intention to buy.
I think it is wrong.

not sure how you have arrived at this opinion, nor what fff means? but i can assure you I had a VERY high customer satisfaction rating when i was doing that job and would like to think (taking into consideration your kind compliment above) that I have a fair bit of experience of 'consumers habits' too wink

you may feel you have a high customer satisfaction rating,
however if you jumped off the deep end as a salesman in the same way you have done here then you would probably have done very well..........

........and joined the ranks of the sort of salesmen we all love to hate.
so i can only guess you have learned to behave like this since you got behind a keyboard.

i'm going to stick to my guns on this.
you are wrong, you are judging someone you dont know by standards that dont apply.
i'm trying not to judge you, but the evidence is starting to overwhelm me.
D17EEE has driven a lot of cars, so what? i like driving, and if i had the time i would drive as many of the cars that take my fancy as i could.

Some of them i would never buy, but the decision would only be reached after the drive.
some i dont see the point of, but then when driving them it all makes sense.
10 years ago, i decided to take an M3 for a drive, even though i was thinking of buying something else.

The M3 blew me away that i went out and bought one.

not from that salesman, (he was a class a idiot) but i bought one on the strength of a test drive i took because i fancied a go.

are you telling me that never happens?
just for that reason alone, anyone involved in sales should understand what happends when you demonstrate a decent product

you misunderstand, i have no problem with people test driving cars with a view to buying them, or even when in the market to buy something trying similar cars at similar prices...

However, to suggest that dizzy has been going around test driving all those completely different cars with even the slightest intention of buying them all is complete nonsense! He is wasting their time, plain and simple- which I and a few other people here (including one of his self-confessed friends) happen to think is completely wrong.

If you disagree/want to stand up for your friend/wish to join him in his tyre kicking quest to drive every performance car on the market thats up to you! I just hope that other people dont have the same disregard for your time in whatever job it is you might do and as was mentioned earlier, I wonder what you think of the people who think its 'fun' to waste Dizzys time in HIS line of work?

You will probably find that dizzy has many more timewasters in his line of than you will ever see being a salesman...

Anyway, several times I have been into showrooms with my dad to just browse and see whats available for decent money when we are approached to testdrive some of the cars. Everytime without fail I have been told in varying ways "Its been a quiet month and its boring being sat in the showroom, besides what difference is 20 minutes going to make?".

Is not always as clean cut someone going out to be a test pilot for the day!

No doubt, therefore one would expect that he wouldn't want to wish the same upon others....unless of course he thinks that his time is somehow more important than everyone elses?

agreed, which is why salespeople keep taking him out. If they were to see his website and know the reasons for his continued test drive after test drive of so many cars perhaps they wouldn't be so keen to do so? Eventually he will be found out and get a reputation in his local area, then he will no doubt complain that dealerships dont take him seriously if he DOES want to buy something! rolleyes
