In true PH style, i am on the lookout for a new car to replace the scooby..

I need 4 seats so 2 seater sports cars are out of the question, this will be a second car but will be used on a daily basis. for my commute which is coming down to 14 miles per day and will cover no business milage.

I have been looking do far a Cerbera v a Holden v a Audi S4 (V8 version) v Evo 8 MR FQ340 v Old skool Escort Cossie..

I know the running costs are going to be sky heigh for all and as long as this is not more that £5000 per year excluduing depriciation then i am not that bothered.

The budget is between 15k upto a max of £22k it would have to be something special for me to spend £22k

people on here are bound to have owned or experienced the above at some point and thoughts are welcome on all. the 22k is only related to an Audi that i have seen in the right colour right milage etc

hmmm scratchchin

interesting mix - it depends what your after...

The Evo has an awful interior and needs a service every 4500 miles whereas the S4 can go 20k without a service and is hugely comfortable. But then the Evo is a more hardcore driving experience and the S4 is more civilised and more prone to understeer..

The cerbera is more of a 2+2 - how big do you need the rear seats? The Monaro/Holden will have more space, but be less urgent?

It is a diverse mix, but my realy requirement is for 4 seats..
I am driving a AWD turbo nutter car at the moment, and am am more inclined to stick with AWD car hence the S4, Evo and Cossie, but a cerbera is one that is on my wish list and so to in the Holden for rear wheel drive fun.

The Evo i see as a 365 day a year car if nothing has broken or is not due a service much the same way for a S4. the cossie is on the list as its one of the cars i have always wished to own. I had a RS2000 4 x 4 when i was 21 which was a laugh for my age but it always left me thinking what is the cossie like.

I will need the kiddies in the back when going back to see family etc and going out at the weekends. but mostly during the week i will be the only one using the car.. I know you can get a cerbera for £10k but i would like a 4.5 and some cash in the bank for repairs!!!!

I am not bothered by luxury features etc, i have got none in the impreza, but working Aircon is a must

In my humble opinion, I would lump the Evo with the TVR in terms of usability, reliability and cost.

The S4 is really comparable to the monaro - both are more 365 day V8 cruisers that can be fun on the twisties.

The Cossie - is a classic, but ive never driven one so cant comment on where it fits - but i imagine finding a good one now will be tricky?

Good shout in that price range. Personally I'd much rather have one over an S4.

I have never really been that keen on the older M5, the current shape one anyday but not that keen on the older shape..

Can the V8 S4 be bought for under £22k yet?

How about a CLK 55 AMG? 5.5 litre V8, uprated brakes and suspension.

I think the V8 S4's are around that - the CLK AMG's are nearer 50k though!

i have had a look at a couple similar to

Seems to be a sensible family car... Good for a hoon and also on the school run!

Just my £0.02

CLK55 for £15k
Monaro for £18k
S4 4.2 for £20k

Go out and drive these three and you'll know which one you want... all will be reliable and a lot cheaper to run than £5k a year. Good luck!
