Deep, angry, bellowy... when you get someone to put a "free flowing" exhaust on. The standard AMG exhaust on the W208 CLK is very quiet IMO. Give about £400 to Powerflow or Longlife and they can knock up something that looks like a W209 CLK 55/63 AMG. It still is a bit quiet because of the cats and pre-cats but certainly loud enough to be noticeably different so you can hear the V8. If there's anyone who's followed me in my car or heard me at a VW meet, please feel free to comment.

And you could get someone to make it sound like this:

check my edits.

Thing is, the other two cars don't sound great without aftermarket exhausts either. That's the problem with modern cars and huge wheels. You mainly hear tyre roar.

When I had mine done, they revved it a couple of times with no exhaust on. I think I soiled myself. It was a very angry sound with more high frequency tones (as you would expect with no silencer); hard to describe, really, but not very Mercedes-like and very anti-social. evil

Yes, it is, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side so I'd never consider one. tongue out

I have could just say my bit, the TVR is to much heart ache, Cossie old and drive like a dog and not that fast now, Holden good choice and the Audi nice car but not much fun ! However the MR FQ340 is a real driver choice, you can use it every day, just like the scooby you can drive it fast in the rain ! Which we see a lot of in the UK !

I will throw a spanner in the works and say how about a Sub STI with Prodirve year 2003-06, you might get one with the rear/front adj. I have owned a 2000 turbo and an STI Prodive “plate 53” both great cars !

I have tried it in this country. I just don't feel comfortable and there are plenty of decent, fun RHD cars out there... I am not knocking your car, mind.

Don't knock it till you've tried it.
Most people have driven left hookers abroad which is very different.
Over here it take about 20 mins to get used to and it opens up a whole new world of opportunities.
I've been trying driving my car in Europe for the last week, only about 4 toll booths and it's already wearing thin having to get out of the bloody car to get a ticket / pay the lady to pass. rofl

However I'd say parking was a bigger issue in your car. wink

I want to try something other than scooby ownership for 6-12months. I have been in a couple of other Imprezas including a 06 plare Import Sti Spec C with the Type 20 handling package and performance pack.

The only thing that put me off an EVO was running costs but my annual milage has gone down from 25000 to 5000 so i could afford to run a Evo and not having to stop off every 3 months for a service.

The cars i have listed are my wish list of cars which have had good reviews for one reason or other.

Thanks

Steve

Of all the cars i have own and driven... the Evo was one of the most fun...there are plenty of choice (un thrashed / muched loved) and you will get a good manfuctures warranty...and if you doing only 5k miles a year then it will just need services once a year...so try..buy..have fun.. you can always sell it again..
