Hi all,

Have a Whirlpool heavy duty tumble dryer, and the start button won't push in properly. I think that it needs a new one.

Whirlpool can't fit me in until 15th November, have phoned a few local ones, but they keep telling me to check the fuse in the plug, they don't believe me that it doesn't have a plug it is hardwired into the mains, and has it's own fuse on the circuit breaker. (Which hasn't tripped.)

Does anybody know of anyone who is a whizz with appliances locally?

TIA

If you keep the start button pressed in, does it switch on? It could be that the start button is mechanically not holding.

Is the door shut and if so has the microswitch detected this? I know my washer dryer won't start without the door being closed...for obvious reasons.

No it's not the door, I have tried holding the microswitch in manually with the door open, it feels like the start button is not pushing in properly, you don't feel the click click (If you know what I mean.)

Do you know anyone that can remove the wires and short them? If so you may be able to replace the switch with one from Maplin....if the switch is mechanically not "closing the circuit"

do it yourself, theres only a couple of screws to take the top off, should give you an extra £30 spare for the fuel tank

I will try to talk hubby into it. He is pimping the garage at the moment, so I bet his answer will be, call someone in.

I would be glad to phone Whirlpool and cancel, apparently it depends on your postcode as to how much the call out charge is. Robbing barstewards.
