I ws on my way back from that there London at 11:30 ish, i came off the M4 at J10 towards Bracknell and sat in a queue of traffic. The Hatos had closed the outside lane of the 329, blocking it with their Discovery.

As i came round the corner, a black BMW 330 was on the lhs hard shoulder in a very sorry state. Front end and rear end both badly caved in, airbags had gone off, but no sign of any other vehicle.

A youngish woman was standing near by the car talking to one of the Hatsos , seemingly Ok.

BUT - as i passed the Hatso Discovery, 20 yards further on from the crashed car, there, sitting in the outside lane was the engine and gearbox yikes

There was no evidence of any other vehicle involved - WTF? Anyone know what happened?

I says a great deal for the safety cell of the car though, which appeared relatively undamaged - i do hope no one else ws nvolved, it looked as if it could have been very nasty.

Ah, that would make sense.
They must have cleared the other vehicles away before i got there.

yes... and yes laugh

Got things pretty much sorted out. Apart from geting in to Westferry Circus, we managed to follow the appropriate bits of your instructions - so thanks for that and well done!

A couple of tweaks needed, and we are done!

It must have been one hell of an impact to rip the engine and gearbox clean out. Poor sods, i hope they were all ok.

Would appear several casualties and air lift by Police helicopter. Seems a fairly serious one.

It was a single car accident - BMW compact lost it on the slip road and hit the barrier taking out the front, skidded back across sliproad and hard shoulder before destroying some trees and taking out both sides and the back, then slid back onto hard shoulder. As the car hit the barrier the engine 'flew' out and bounced through the trees and across both lanes of the A329M before hitting the central reservation barrier and bouncing back into lane 2 right in front of the Renault van. Driver of the van thought it was a meteor!!!!! He said all he saw was a big black flying object spitting flames and smoke bounce right in front of him. Both occupants got out and were OK but his girl friend was not best pleased!!!! Considering the scale of the damage amazingly lucky or thankful for airbags! Hope he does the lottery this week!
Cheers

Well not usually it doesn't but I suppose if you hit a barrier at 70+ almost head on then strange things happen like that!
