Hey guys,

I'm heading from Redhill to Basingstoke for a 9am interview tomorrow morning... any idea how long roughly that journey should take? I'm from Leicester so I have no real clue! I have to go up the M25 (anticlockwise) from J8 to J12, then take the M3 all the way into Basingstoke, which is J6.

Google maps says 50 miles, 1 hour, but frankly I'm thinking thats a bit optimistic... will the M25 even be moving at that time in the morning?

I'm planning on setting off at 7, so two hours to get there... does this sound reasonable?

Thanks a lot guys!!!!

I'd aim to be on the M25 for 7 and then get a relaxed breakfast in Basingstoke somewhere... Best way before an interview - nothing worse than piling in at the last minute or stressing on the motorway everytime it slows down and you might be late.

If you allow the two hours you should be in time. I reckon an hour to Heathrow when the traffic is clear. When its not its anybody's guess!

Basingstoke does suffer some congestion now in the morning at around 8:30am to 9:00am and you won't know the back routes to avoid it so setting off at 7:00am could see you thre quarters of an hour early (at absolute best) to just in time (at worst).

If you get the job you won't want that journey to be your regular commute. If you end up moving to Basingstoke post on here and I'll try and give you some pointers as to where is nice to live...I can at least save you from the shite bits.

You've got two pinch points on that route - the M25-A3 junction and the M25-M3 junction. If you need to be in the interview at 9am I would certainly leave very early. It can take 10-30 mins at each of those.

That direction of the M25 is nose to tail 2nd gear to the M3 at this time. Plus the roadworks on M3.

hey guys, thanks for the tips...

set off at 7 this morning, spent aaaaaages on the M25 but then once I got onto the M3 it was fairly plain sailing... took 1:35 door to door, which gave me a perfect amount of time to have a quick coffee and compose myself before I went in!!

Interview went fairly well too, I think smile if I turn out to be successful I might be a bit more active on this part of PH!!

thanks again
