E39 M5, E36 M3 (3.0 or 3.2), Z4 3.0, or 130i

Any of the above in preference to the S3.

AYE!

AYE!

I fail to see how even an M5 can cost more to run than Ben's particular S3.

Ok, so tell me how much it'll cost to keep an M5 on the road and do 24,000 miles in one in a year?
<yawn>,<stretch>,<scratch>,<sniff> Morning all!

Get an E39 M5 for playtime and an old snotter for the miles? My Passat was £1600 with only 60k miles and I'll keep it until it dies (or I do, whichever comes first...!). Climate, FVWSH, electric everything, 20V engine, economical, cheap to service, etc, etc. It even has alloy wheels and a decent stereo!

Obviously if you get an E39 you'll have to learn to drive properly as it's only 2WD... hehe

John, if I was going to do that it's be a Cerbera not an M5 but as I can't have two cars that's just not practical.

Just think any of these would be more fun to drive than yours, some would be as quick and some quicker, and all would be less likely to break all the time.

If you want something cheap to buy and run and much more fun than your car it's an E30 M3 or a Clio 172/182 IMHO.

Cerbera and a (semi) snotter, just get off your feckin arse and find a garage to rent or something.
Christ you never know, if I sell our house and do end up moving house in the next few months, and if it ends up in your neck of the woods, I might even have a spare garage space you could stick a Cerb in... ...would also give me a donor car to snaffle bits off when mine breaks afterall wink.

A few things to be clear on gents hehe

I'd rather keep my car than have to drive to work everyday in something shit, can't have two cars until I can afford to buy somewhere with a garage and couldn't be bothered using a second car if I had to drive to get to it.

I will not be getting a FWD car unless it's an original ITR. Full Stop. I also don't agree that a 182 / whatever is more fun than my car to drive.

It needs to be comfortable enough to do trips like the one last year and whatever might be coming up this year which again rules out things I don't really fit in etc.

And my car will be 260+ bhp for less than a few hundred quid and will be worth more than that in about a month looking at how fast it's loosing money.
