Did you tell him that you had a better off or did you just not bother to turn up and leave him at the alter? wink

Do you remember how I proposed Em?

I was leaning out of the bot of my car having just folded the rear seats down... and you were taking your roller blades out of the boot...

It was so romantic...

He seemed to have a great time actually. He was in a Jag XK.

Truthfully, with it being my first time I was a bit nervous about keeping up in an Astra, but there was such a mix of cars and everyone was so friendly/helpful that I felt right at home. I know not all car groups are quite so open-minded so a huge thanks to you all from a newbie! Keep it up!
Good to hear this kind of thing. Ignoring what's been posted in the last couple of hours, seems like a really relaxed atmosphere with a good group of people and I look forward to all of you popping my cherry next time! Pernod - I'll be in a Civic Type-R, so imagine keeping up with you will be a struggle, let alone some of the other machines there today!

Realise I could just search the forum, but how frequently do these things get run? And, pushing my luck a bit, does anyone have a few Tomtom files from previous local hoons they could send me for entertainment in the meantime...? (cheers Chris and Robbie for sending todays, btw!)
This sort of simple exchange has provided me with such a breath of fresh oxygen.

I dont know whether either of you frequent your respective forums but I decided to leave the VXR forum after non stop "Raced this car" / "Raced that car" thread, then you have your "VXR vs Type R vs ST" debarkle.

Such a refreshing attitude that at last owners can log on, chat, say hello and actually hoon without the need to prove the size of ones manhood. Looking forward to meeting you both at some point and I mean that genuinely smile
Monkey - you'll be fine in a type-R! Someone said at the start of the thread that the car isn't as important as turning up with the right attitude... and they were 100% right. Everyone turned up to have a good day with some like minded people (friends is probably a better description), didn't matter if they were in a Suzuki, a Ferrari or my little vauxhall. None of the normal 'politics' of forums seemed to come into it (at least until I logged in after the run to see the events unfold).

I'm also on the VXR forum, mainly as it's great to learn the crazy small details of the car (only had it a short time)... a specalised forum like that is great to find out that "option 7 of the hidden menu gives the water temp" etc.

However, Dizeee your right. The political rubbish that comes with a specalised forum does wear thin pretty quick. I couldn't care less about how someone beat a Saxo on the M40.

Needless to say I'm glad I came along for the drive and found this place. Even with the happenings last night at least this group had the maturity to put them out in the open (full credit for Kinky for being willing to raise what could have been a serious issue... better out than in!) and have what was a relatively sensible discussion about them (all things considered).

I still have a smile on my face from the Hoon. Monkey - see you at the next one ;-)

I kept up with (and using all of biggrin) my 125bhp in a little hatch. More power would be welcome, but it's a lot of fun keeping up.

I think it is more enjoyable having to "work it", think I will be using the clio on the next run and having to stir the gears rather than just chugging along in 4th.

Just thrash the nuts off it. Keep the revs above 4k to make progress. Drive it on the nose. Remember the back end is quite lively on the brakes and throttle adjustable.
