Apologies for bringing up an old thread but I've been looking into the purchase of a Ginetta and saw one for sale on this web-site: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C286416However I found this thread and I'm trying to fully understand the situation with this car and what has happened to it? Thanks for any help.

I suspect such instances of vehicle 're-birthing' are quite common-place. It's likely that there is a 1967 square-tube G4 'alive and well' now residing somewhere in the United States that long ago came to grief at a Bodiam Hill Climb and was written off. You have to wonder whether the registration plates are all that was left of the original car and what, if any, subsequent owners know of the history

There's another G27R up in Cheshire that has been for sale for a while and looks well kitted out, if you fancy a long excursion. I have an inkling that it's an IRS model, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. It also has an unusual headlight arrangement which someone might be able to shed some light on. Off topic: I was unaware that Bodiam had such a racing heritage aside from the car club. I'm about 15 minutes away, so I find this all very interesting. Managed to stumble upon this: http://www.bygonebodiam.co.uk/Bodiam%20Hill%20Clim... I was clearly born a few years too late!

I owned the silver G27 for about a year. No idea of the history as bought it on the spur of the moment as a cheap track day car. I would say it was a great track car for the money (e.g. compared with a more expensive Seven), with lots of racing bits to play with and drove very tight (did get kicked off Bedford for noise redlining past one of the noise monitors but was fine at other circuits). However, if you want something mainly to drive on B roads it was a bit hardcore, and although I used to drive it to the circuits it would be better to take it on a trailer.

It was my car, before I sold it. I bought it directly from Ginetta a number of years ago, when they were based in Sheffield. It needs a number of things done to it, but somewhere very close to 4k or possibly just under it, is a fair price for the car.

unbelievable..... Crafty. Advertised in that category it costs him just £1.30... in 'correct' category of vehicles for sale would cost £10.00
