last year I seriously considered a G40R, but, for a variety of reasons, I bought an Elise instead.

I just wondered if there was any word on the likelihood of any more road cars from the guys in Garforth?

Looking at the road car range, there (IMHO) seems to be a bit of a chasm between the £30k G40R and the £68k G60.

Something at the £45-£50k mark would be splendid I reckon. They certainly seem to have race cars aplenty!

FWIW, my vote would be FE, RWD, > 4cylinders. Like a scaled up G40R I guess.

cheers

How come you chose the Elise over the Ginetta just out of interest?

Variety of reasons:
I had a car to trade in. Ginetta wouldn't take a trade in, Lotus would.
I fancied mid engined a bit more than front.
I felt the Lotus had a slightly better support/parts network around me, being a slightly more trodden path.
Lastly, I quite liked the ability to go topless in the Elise.

OH I understand now...

Fair enough on the reasons, just wondering if it was the way it drove in comparison.

G50 road car would be great.

To be honest I don't really understand the gap your suggesting. In fact I don't see any small manufacture plugging that gap, unless your Renault it would be too uneconomical.
However for this extra 10k I would of thought the G40 with more bhps as they said they can get 300bhp from it and then some more toys would fill it remarkably well. Easily spend money on dataloggers etc.

It's actually £15k-£20k I was talking about.

For that, I'd want a couple more cylinders and a bit more room inside.

Take your point about small volume manufacturers not offering too many models, but Ginetta seem to have plenty of the hardware already...

They did a good job of road-readying the G40; I'd love to see them do it again.

I for one feel there's a distinct lack of desirable (new) Sportscars at the £50k ish mark. The new Exige and, at a pinch, Evora spring to mind. Maybe the SLK if you are a hair stylist, but other than that, it's kit cars...

Hmmm, a V8 or V10 with 400-500 horsepower, about £45k, front engined and with a good dealer network in the style of a G50....

Isn't that really what the G50 as a road car would be?

I took the USD price ($67k) and converted it, can't believe the UK price! but that's rip off Britain I suppose. Still 40K for a mint Z06 has got to be a bargain, hasn't it? 500 horses, 1420Kg, 3.4 to 60, carbon fibre body, ally chassis, composite tub, titanium valves and exhaust, head-up display reactive damping.... blimey, I'm feeling faint just thinking about it... Anyone got 40k they don't want?

Worth a try...

I take it youve seen the new 2012 Z06 round the ring?

If you felt faint before I advise getting someone with smelling salts nearby.

Anybody have an update on the Zytek V8 model? i sincerely hope they canned it, at least for the time being. Surely a company the size of Ginetta cannot afford the bad press associated with trying to build their own engine?
