Ginetta G40R - anyone got theirs yet?
Discussion
I did 220 miles at the weekend and it is an experience!
On the motorway it's a pussycat - just sitting at 70 it's comfortable, the bonnet flaps which is annoying but easily fixed. If you provoke it above 3.5k however everything starts happening and it becomes a very different animal. Likewise through the gears there is the same Jeckell and Hyde thing going on - it is brutal when you push on hard but great fun.
Don't expect Elise build quality - this is very much a race car. If you are not in the market for a race car then it is probably not for you.
It's a bit like a cross between a Caterham and an Ultima GTR.........

I really like these G40Rs & am severely tempted as it fits as an exact replacement for what I use my Griffith for (highdays/holidays/trackdays/hillclimbs).
One question for those in the know; is it a Ford or Mazda Duratec that's used as the powerplant?
Morgan used the Mazda on the +4SS & it's 30hp to the good compared to the Ford version used on the cooking versions (the Mazda internals let it rev 1200rpm higher).

A friendly word of advice, I'd read the "Spotted G60" thread before you start trying to fix the bonnet flapping yourself, you could invalidate your warranty. Not trying to be funny, but it would pay to be careful I think. On the motorway it's a pussycat - just sitting at 70 it's comfortable, the bonnet flaps which is annoying but easily fixed.

What it's like to live with. How often do you use it? How you feel about it? Anything to do with ownership basically. As I've said before, I'd like to live vicariously a bit!
So far no problems, I've used it most evenings for exactly what I bought it for "fun".Its mechanically a very well designed and put together car. What it's really good for is B roads fast. While I'm here I must thank Tony at Hexham horseless carriages who handled every thing on schedule .Gassing Station | Ginetta | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
