Aha - its a G10.

Only 6 produced, and there it was just inconspicuously parked up at Goodwood !

Not quite. Only two G10s were made. This is a G11 which has been modified to something like a G10. There are several more around.

I believe there were only two G11's?

No, there were a few more. A chap called Russell Madden bought several chassis/bodies from Ginetta when they abandoned the 11, and he built them up over some years.

Interesting. I'll watch out for them now, beautiful looking cars.

There were only ever TWO G11 'COUPES'
I have one (chassis No. 2, which was originally displayed on the Ginetta Stand at the 1967 Racing Car Show), the other (chassis No. 1*) I have spent almost 35 years looking for (it is out there!), others have given up... I might call it a day soon as a long lost cause. laugh

Mine (well, the rear half).

As for it being a good looker, here's the road going G10 back in the day.

Don't you just love the front over-riders? I do, that's why my G11 has them now. The Walkletts were so clever using the parts bin. Rear quarter bumpers from Ford Mk Escort or if you like, Lotus Cortina! And those front over-riders from the Frogeye (rear) - upside down!

Perhaps Bond should have driven this, but probably too quick, plus this one's lhd!
Which looks better? Aston or Ginetta? - I won't say because of bias.

Trouble with both cars is one is as rare as hen's teeth, while the other you need to be near the top of the rich list to afford one.

Which brings to point I see a DB4 made almost two and half million pounds last week at Sothebys

eek ...£2.5M, phew!

...just for a old car. biggrin

So is the Goodwood one a G10, the missing G11, or a Bitsa?

As above, it's a bitsa. I think it belongs to Lawrence Tomlinson now. It was raced at Goodwood a couple of years ago but didn't get very far. The real G10 however led the race until its back wheel came off.

How many miles have you done in it this year, John?
Then I'll tell you how many I've done in the Alpine! wink

Geoff answered that for you, but the easy way to spot is to look at the front of the hardtop - you can clearly see the front roof join to the screen surround.
On the real coupe it's all one, no joins.

I'll own up anyway - 280km since the MoT last September - must try harder!
