G21

I was watching a basket case G21 on Ebay. It looked really nasty corrosion wise, but sort of in one peace, but needed a ground up restoration. Quite surprised at the final price though- good news for Ginetta owners.

I was also watching that G21 with half a mind to buy it. I was v surprised to see it go from about £2500 to almost £5000 in the final few seconds!

Lot, no lots, of work needed, the money required will mount up very fast, but...
really hard to find now. Decent G21S went at auction over 2 years ago for £10.5k. Another less to do resto one was 6k.

Over the past two years, I have been having a G21 refurbished from a "walking wounded" example, by the Walklett's at their workshops. What they have achieved is nothing short of amazing! Their craftsmanship is superb and, knowing the car as they do, they have managed to improve on the original design. Sure, it has cost a fair sum, but I will be the proud owner of a near new car. Collection date - 3 weeks time. Xmas coming slightly early!

Would love to hear about the improvements! I saw your car quite a long time ago - they don't work very fast, do they?

No problem with the timescale - they had a number of G4R's and G12's to complete - I was happy to wait, especially as it gave me an excuse to visit the factory.

Just noticed, is that alloy length (riveted) running along the roof inside and down front pillar?

I'm sure I had a length of this for the G11 to use as guttering but can't find it, even after a clearout!
Is it available and from where?

I've remembered why I had it. Had the car outside the garage this week and came indoors as it began peeing down. As I got inside to have it pushed back in the garage, I got soaked as the rain ran off the roof and inside the car. Not sure if it would stop the water running into the car but might be worth a try.

Or a simple answer, does it work? ie prevent water going in the cabin (remembering the G11 has frameless doors being MGB.)

It seems to be reasonably effective, John, but I don't now if it's available. I remember having a look when I stripped my car some years ago in case it got damaged but never needed to pursue it. Ask a Walklett?

Have the dash and plastic mouldings all been covered in material or coloured as it looks really neat compared to the all black standard car? Even the steering wheel is red so was that recovered or stained Red? H

I can't see it being 'stained'.
You can get leathercloth today in every colour under the sun, I saw a souped up Clio in a dayglow green wrap with a dayglow lime green leathercloth interior. It's the most garish interior I've ever seen!

Can't be difficult now either to colour grp absolutely any colour you like.
If you look at the door cards, the pockets and speaker centre are a different shade (darker).
The carpet would be easy to get too. Seats? Def covered imo.


...hey! I've just spotted a - really must change the boring black pedal rubbers to the maroon colour.

Can't see them, but I would hope the seat belt webbing is that colour too! Another thing available in all colours. The Clio had lime green ones!
