Ginetta Cars sold

LNT continues acquisitions

none
The Yorkshire based LNT Group continued its motor sport expansion with the acquisition this week of Ginetta Cars, one of the UK's oldest names in sports and racecar manufacturing.

Ginetta's Martin Phaff said: "This is a great opportunity for this British marque, cherished by racing enthusiasts throughout the world, to build on a successful base and fulfil its potential.

"Ginetta will continue to focus on motorsports entry level niche whilst looking to develop overseas Championships and strengthen its position as the leader in junior sportscar racing.

"Investment is everything in business and Motorsport is no different, the LNT group will allow us to move forward and grow from our successful racing series".

Group Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said: "We want to create a motor sport centre of excellence here in Yorkshire, our European representation for the U.S manufacturer Panoz will enable us to win at the highest level of International GT racing. Closer to home our interest is now complimented by Ginetta, offering us a unique opportunity to spot and nurture new driver talent.

"We are delighted to have not only secured a genuine British Sports car manufacturer but the services of one of Motorsports most enthusiastic and capable promoters in Martin Phaff".

Martin Phaff stays on at Ginetta, heading up all sales and race series co-ordination.

They brought out a coupe version - possibly just a bolt on hardtop - which was used for a junior race series (for 16 year olds I think) hence the Ginetta Junior sun strips.

Wonder if this new investment will finally see the new V8 launched?

The car above is a Ginetta Junior GT. It was specifically made for the Junior Ginetta race series.Runs a 1.4 Ford Zetec engine developing 105bhp.

It is a proper coupe with a full integral roll cage.

A true GT version of the car can be seen here www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=192194&r=2295101&hm=34191#2295101
Wish my little car looked like that one

Much fun was had by one & all & it was great to see the top brass at Ginetta working with the youngsters & supporting them trhoughout the season - they should be applauded.

I have to say that watching it live at the circuit, Ginetta racing looks awesome. Brilliant value too.

I wonder if they would consider doing a cheap V8 race car? Sort of "Tuscans on the cheap"? Or are there too few new Rover V8s left to do it with? Can you imagine what fun that would be?

you said, and i quote, more 'owners' than i've got underpants.
please name one, I would be interested to hear. and I don't mean someone who is/was part of a consortium or ploughed a bit of cash in etc. I understand that there have been lots of other people 'involved' but not a 'new' owner unless you know otherwise. At this point it does 'appear' that there is for the first time a 'new' owner. But perhaps if you know different, can you enlighten us all, just for an example what is the AC Cars connection?
Would it not be more accurate to say the Ginetta Cars Ltd has had more 'name changes & associations' (rather than 'owners') since the business first failed in 92 than I have underpants?

Does that mean that Mr Schumacher is no longer driving a Ferarri as Rory Byrne has stepped back - or the old man is dead.

Or that no modern TVR's actually count as there is no one called Trev at the top.

You'll be telling us next that LNT no nothing about racing

It is the same as the last real MG was built at Abingdon!
