Ahh, I think it might be you? If you have discussed this on the Locost builders site? It was just picked up by someone on the GOC in passing and they commented that they didn't really think it was on (as did others, and it's my sentiment too).

I'd just keep pressurising them if it were me. Specialist car makers have always been lax in the turn-around dates but usually we are not talking lots of money. £34 grand is a lot of money for most of us! Plus, there is a lot of stuff you can now buy out there with that sort of wedge. But then, the G40R (if/when you get it) is 'different'. That means a lot to many car enthusiasts. It does to me too. But, like most, waiting is a bugbear we can stand... IF we get the facts crystal clear about how long that time wait is to be.

Edit
copied Lowcost from GOC. Should be Locost! (I believe?)

He he.
I've done 2 (3?) new posts (replies) already.

Bit of surprise reading about the prospective buyer of a G40R and his problems.
Whats the G40r Owners problems? Give me more details, is this being discussed on GOC? I would join but im not technically a owner yet... I ordered a G40r in OCT 13 and im still awaiting a start date.

Im not pee'd of yet but frustrated with out a car and without a start/delivery date, I phoned factory on Fri and received an apology for delay but still no date.

Its my wife who is really complaining about it, I tried to explain but she keeps saying im wasting my money and she could make a baby faster..bla bla. I booked a few track days to which ive sold on at reduced prices as I now wont make them. I was expecting my car at the beginning of March.

Most probably I would think the introduction (and success) of the GRDC series in September 2013 has placed higher demands on production at Ginetta and this has delayed some customer orders. It's also the busiest time of year for race car manufacture as well. I appreciate that is little compensation if you are waiting and I sympathise, but its good that they are selling cars.

Im please that they are too, but all they need to do is respond to emails or pick up the phone and take 2 mins to explain and id understand I have been asking for months. I did speak to factory eventually on Friday and they are calling me back when they have a update. (ill let you know how that goes!!) I explained that I think that they could give me a indicative date to aim for, but at present even May is looking like a no go and they wont commit.

I have traded in my kitcar in Oct against the G40r giving me a 1/3 deposit but pulling out of the deal just wont work as im now moving to a house without a garage and ive sold all my open top gear, ie helmets, jackets, gloves, low jacks, tools, car covers etc so although im in 2 minds at the moment I just cant pull out as I wouldnt be able to take my Kitcar back. Although with the weather as it is...id love too.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had problems with the factory. It was a similar story with a guy (Hubert K) who bought a G60 and had reliability issues. Based on his posts at the time, he struggled to get any info on his car after it was returned to be repaired. (All his posts were subsequently deleted, presumably as part of some deal he struck?). I hope Ginetta address this aspect of their business sooner rather than later, before their reputation suffers too badly. If they continue seemingly to neglect their road customers in this way, I can't see the business being sustainable. At the very least I would have thought they could organise a loan of a G40R, G60 or even a GRDC car to get you mobile. Let us know how you get on.

Yes, I did notice a few comments he had made where deleted, his deletion may have been for several reasons.

I have spoke the truth in my posts and only have a problem with the delay/feedback and nothing else and like any good company they should accept the comments made. No one seems to have a problem with the quality of there car, quality of upgrades or repairs or any of the Staff. I just think they are run off there feet, I know from my company that manufacturing is a hard business to get good workers, especially when you have such a good brand to protect.

  • ** still no response from factory on a start/completion date 2 1/2 weeks after I was told id get a call back within a week ****

Hmm, this is not good, but unfortunately echoes my experience. I tried on two occasions to buy a G40 from Ginetta and twice I was made to feel like a nuisance, despite having owned three Ginettas in the past. The most shocking part was me having to make constant phone calls to try and organise a visit, and not once having a call back, in the end I had to pitch up unannounced and it went downhill from there.

Building cars they are good at, customer service, in my experience anyway, they ain't.

Congrats on receiving your delivery date, this is great news. I have been concerned for some time that Ginetta would close down all the road-going operations as on the face of it they seem to put little priority on getting the cars or the customer care right, but this shows they are listening and genuinely concerned about that aspect of the business and working to improve it. Long may it continue.

This is all very interesting as i am looking very seriously at the GRDC package which seems to make (reasonable) financial sense in terms of the whole package, residual values etc. i will have to sell my Noble to fund this but may have to look at other finance options if i'm going to be left waiting and waiting for the new car to be built - which seems to be a concern/reality on this thread and forum.

What i can say is that Hayley at Ginetta has been very responsive with answers to my numerous questions and has been very helpful as was Lawrence when i met him at Brands Hatch this weekend. Of course they are trying to sell me something so i would expect that, but so far my experience has been good.

has anyone ever had experience of a Noble vs Ginetta ? I'm guessing they are completely different beasts, but i'd be interested in any views. Feedback on the G40R seems to be generally positive in terms of driving experience, but i noted on teh forum that some cars require various upgrades ? Is this relating only to older cars or teh new ones as well ?
