Here is a new rough sketch, still retro but incorporating some modern feautures, like a new headlight design, and a different front chin spoiler.

What do you guys think?

Italio - I can't see the 'new' sketch 2 posts up, should I be able to, you were you refering to the images in your first post (also in the G12 thread)?

As I've said already - looks very good, and if I had the cash, I'd buy one (hmmm, maybe I should have got a cheaper house!)

I definetly prefer the 5th and 6th versions. IMHO - The one above seems too modern and moves away from the G12 style I like. I prefer my cars simple and elegant.

Well that's my take on things, but I must say well done to fuoriserie for providing us with these and providing us with a choice in the first place. Welldone matey !!

agree with john...the 5th and 6th are the closest to the origenal, (both worthy to cary the name G12)...but then a bit better for some years to come, I like them both...maybe you better give them a number or a name, so we can say what car and you then know what drawing
good work Italo, I still did not hear a thing from DARE...maybe they are still busy with the new G12 projecthehe lets hope thats the reason...

Tough crowd to please.

I think that the G4 and G12 are two iconic designs for Ginetta, and would be pretty difficult to replace on design terms.
I believe an evolutionary design like the ones i've posted, is the way to go, just like porsche did with the 911 and to a lesser extent ,the new mini.

You could keep both cars as is, and will always be classics, or move on and try yo keep the ethos of the design, but with an updated design technology.

Difficult decisions, but I wouldn't want to be in DARE'S shoes right now, and maybe that is why it's taking them so much time to design the new car....

The alternative would be to update the chassis and engine and leave the classsic shape, still beautifull today, and with minor modifications like my earlier sketch.

It would keep everybody happy, and drive a classic with modern technology.

Good design ... good looking car

BUT ...

you are loosing the Ginetta Spirit. This car could be a Lotus or a Phantom, or a GTM, or any good looking kit car or sportscar ... but you're going too far from the original design IMHO

I agree with previous comments about the last sketches of your first post in this topic ...they look right. You have to keep the sixties spirit even if using modern wheels, lights, ... I think even details like bonnet catches have to be reinterpreted.

I do not think it's a step forward for the automotive history (and design) but I really like the way the Ford GT40 has been redesigned ... that's the way the G12 should also be redesigned ... stil IMHO

That said, words are easy and your work is really good and should not be criticised (I am a product designer and can say you need talent to produce such sketches) ... I simply think Ginetta enthousiasts like the classic look of their cars.

A Ginetta can not be confused with other manufacturers cars!

Your more modern interpretations should suit the needs of LNT (new Ginetta owner) for new models (not related to old models, not reinterpretations or redesign of old models) better than they suit the needs of Dare ... always IMHO ;-)

LNT (Ginetta) need new road cars. I really like the G27 (I own 2), the G33, even the "square" G32 but the G20 never made me "fall in love".

I know Ginetta have focused on their race series (successfully) but they now need road cars. Real road cars, not road legal G20's.

The ideal team would be ... a front engined convertible "à la G33, G27" and a sister mid engined coupe with similar looks ... like the G4 - G12 team.

MMMMH ... I think I'm buildind my dream garage! ;-)

Nice car, though I agree what the other guy says better stay a bit closer to the sixties look of the origenal like your first 2 drawings?, much more Ginetta lines...
This latest I like, but its not Ginetta G12...I still want one though

I think its great. I would like to see the oval grille sit below the centre line a la G4, G12, G20 etc etc.

Why not not post your sketches to Ginetta/LNT, I'm sure they'd be interested. I believe the 50th anniversary Ginetta is well on its way and will use relatively small Ford engines (1600??) but if its as much of a success as the company hope they should be looking at designs for the next model.

Will it be a midengine sportscar? or an update of the G20.?

Will try to rework a new Retro G 12, with only slight modifications...

The Monday posts with the original G12 in the photo are the best representations.

The current versions look too much like a Mitsubishi Exclipse!
