You should be able to scroll through all my Ginetta photos this way.

I have these photos on a Picasa Webpage and STILL can't figure out how to post them so you all can see them instantly. Help!

Cheers,

Aaron

I use photobucket, and they have a tab on each photo you can click that automatically copies the correct formatting for a site like this. By the way Aaron, I remember driving your car when I was purchasing mine (November 2006). It had more miiles, but was finished better. My car is very raw, no interior carpeting or padding, no wipers, no heater. I also really liked the color on your car better, but chose the silver one due to the low mileage (1600), and fewer stress cracks on the body. I haven't really had any problems. I did check the offsets on the new wheels I purchased (9 spoke Enkei), and brought the wheels in a little bit to avoid the rubbing problem I was having with the minilite style wheels. I am going to go back to the minilite wheels because they look better to me. I will just have to trim back the lip on the fender and keep the front suspension a bit on the stiff side.

Here are some pictures from the ad when I bought my car (showing the wheels that eventually ended up on Aaron's car).

One picture of Aaron's car from the ad just after I picked my car up.

A few pics from last year in the mountains at thanksgiving (a bit chilly that weekend).

I bought this one of ebay about 3 months ago so this maybe the one you mist as the previous owner ended it early for me.

And yes the other car in the garage is a Quantum 2+2, we’re currently fitting a 2.1 ZVH Turbo so it should go well!!driving

Hopefully ill see you all at stoneleigh………. if any of you are going??biggrin

Ohhh, thank you for the comment of the ‘superb collection’

Who's is the Ultima?

As for the G32, I know this car well. Nearly bought it time before last owner bought it - as some have guessed, it's been up for sale a few times. However, it does have a 'steel' chassis, not the galvanised one - the only thing against this car. This was Dave Brown's car (Rolls-Royce worker). It is a superb car with super interior, again Dave Brown did the matching carpet etc if I recall, but it's registration belies it's age - it's an earlier car.

You can't have everything with a secondhand car but this G32 has the right colour and really is a nice example, but if it was me, (seriously!) I'd forget the engine going in the Quantum - get the new clutch done in the G32 (if you can do the engine in the Quantum you can do the Ford clutch!). Yes, take it from me, I would get that Quantum out of the garage asap and get the G32 in the dry!

Here she is couple years ago.

and this is the nicest one ever! - S. Baillie's old G32 (I should have bought itbanghead

VERY underrated car - who now would 'really' rather have a similar age MR2?

The Ultima’s my step dads and the Quantum’s my mums, she’s not the type of person who likes ‘revving’ the engine so that’s the reason for the turbo.

Thanks for the info on the car it is nice to now more about it, I do really like the way the carpet and the piping has been matched to the colour of the car. I have looked at the chassis and to me its not bad but is in need of a bit of paint in places, (ill do this when I attempt the clutch).
Is it a big problem/difference that the chassis is steel not galvanised???

Hopefully it shouldn’t be up for sale for a while as I plan to use it a lot and keep it until I can find something better, but I don’t know what would be better than this, bering in mind I am a young driver who struggles to get a reasonable price for insurance like most young drivers my age!!!

The G32 does stay in the dry it’s next to the Quantum at the moment and the Ultima’s in my step dad’s mum’s garage,(who also live in Market Drayton like us) as she spends most of the year in Spain. So the G32 is nice and warm been well looked after.

BTW, the red G32 is a gorgeous colour

The one I missed on ebay recently was a yellow one only a few days ago but I do remember seeing yours as well now.

As long as your chassis is in good nick and you continue to protect it with paint/waxoil or whatever then its not a problem. Sounds like its been looked after all ready.

I do regret not buying that red one when it came up for sale. Didn't want a lot for it either !!

The difference between the galvanised chassis and steel is simple - the latter rusts! The problem with G32 'steel' is repairing the tubes if they do rot. That's why I said keep it dry.

The rest of the car is as good as you will get, so (apart from the clutch, which of course could happen on any car) you have no other expense. No costly paintwork to do, no cleaning up replacing seats etc.

Get it up in the air on ramps, stands - and go underneath and check every bit of exposed chassis you can see then coat it with whatever you fancy (gloss enamel paint as I hate anything like waxoyl and other messy sticky stuff.
Of course, easier way is if you know friendly garage ask them to look over it underneath 'just' as a chassis check - only take them a few minutes on a 4 lift poster - bet they'd do it just to see such a different car!

I have the original 'dealer' poster hanging on my toilet wall!

Anyhow, they don't mention weight on the flyer below, but stick a zetec in on 45mm carbs or bike throttle bodies and i bet there is a lot of mid-engined fun to be had.

MR2 vs. G32

This is a great question? Any one driven both? Articles from the time put the G a bit behind the Toy in almost every respect but styling. Not that I'm ever likely to get one over here in the States, but I'm very curious as to the difference as the 1st Gen Toys are very popular Gymkhana cars here.

Cheers,

Aaron

Thanks for the info!!

I think I will strip all the lose paint off then paint it with black Hammerite rust paint then maybe waxoyl in the gaps I cant reach with the paint.

The problem with the clutch is the release bering, (iv been told). Sometimes it doesn’t go into gear and sometimes when it’s in gear if you put the clutch down it keeps moving as if the clutch is still up.eek I don’t think the previous owner used it much so that may be one reason. The previous owner has even brought me a new clutch kit, so I owe him a big thank you.
