Why are you not down for going to next weekend's PH Sunday Service at Silverstone (17th)? Could do with a G33 there, I've never seen a Ginetta at one yet!

Mind you the list is oversubscribed but loads always pull out, get your name down on the reserve list if you're free that day.

I was no' 70 on the list but realised I was double booked (I'm throwing my kayak down a river in West Wales). I had the G33 at the Porsche Silverstone Sunday Service, there was a Dare G4 there too. I was parked next to the nice MGBGT V8. We took the Mrs Fiat Coupe to Brooklands (parked next to GT86 and Maclaren. So far this year the G33 is booked for:
Donnington historic festival
Stonleigh kit car show (she's not a kit, but kits get inf ree so on the gate she's a kit!)
Wallingford Classic car meet
Silverstone classic
Ginetta Owners Club AGM (Coventry Car Museum)

Great news!
I was just going to pull out due to having to do a pickup at Luton airport, then thought I'd look to see whether you were taking the Toyota or G4.

2 G4s there has given me the incentive to bribe my bro-in-law to go to Luton!

Forecast is dry, sunny at 8am, fog at 9am, then ok.

PS you'll have to come now Shadi, just given it a plug in the events thread!

hi volker, nice to meet you here,
yes, all answers were right (nearly), all pictures have been taken sept. 1968 at nurburgring 500km.
the G12 top left was entered by a swiss team. the Bamford G16 and Groves G12. all pictures were taken after the race.
The abarth was 1.6 , as in those days , the 500km were only for the smaller race-cars. 1969 was uprated to 2.0 cc, beginning of the Chevron´s victory-lane.

here are other ones:

first: rare shot from outside Karussell-bend the Groves entered g12 1000km race Nurburgring. fortunately in those days i was brave enough to climb one of the trees to take such pictures and have a better view on the whole karussell as the spectators on opposite side.
The Groves Ginetta was entered at all endurance races (1000km and 500km) from 1967 to 1969.

also a nice shot on this starting grid, three g12 in one row, followed by much stronger cars. interesting: one of these is the Nomad BRM, must be one of its first races in early 1967, as it still has an unpainted aluminium skin.

two G12 actually competing in germany. the white car seen at Bremen Classic show. this is the Tony Ingram restored G12, having been found on a scrap-yard in south-america, obviously now in swiss hands.

hehe Do you reckon that's where the G11 is Geoff. I never thought of searching scrapyards for it!

Incidentally, great day yesterday Shadi. Did you travel home on the M40, my son reckons he saw an open G4 going East.

My vids of the on track were not that good, but here's a couple I've just uploaded of you lining up etc.

First short vid sounds like gun shots when you fire up

Geoff
keep your eyes wide
the chance won´t come again
for the times they are changing

now, some people were/are lucky to find race-jewels with history, once thrown away, neglected and forgotten in scrapyard corners.

perhaps you may remember the thrilling story of the Alfa Tipo 33, found in Angola in a scrapyard.

http://www.kidston.com/kidston-cars/2216/1968-Alfa...

not so popular, but also worth reading is the story of the Daren MK1, found on a scrapyard in Singapore some years ago.

why not find a Ginetta G12 with interesting race-history anywhere in south-america

Found in a South-African scrap, 1967 Le-Mans Mini Marcos , the streamlined Works-car, which was stolen after last race in Kyalamy in december 1967.

and one more..

Was nice to see you there John, and to meet Richard (dare g4 owner). Thanks for the pics and video.
the car felt very good on track, just a few little things stil to iron out. Sorry my vid on track is abit long and boring, also without good audio.
Hope to see your G11 out this year...
and yes M40 all the way home smile

Oh well, I can blame my memory Geoff, what's your excuse?

I have that picture and other shots (or did have). Never looked at it as a scrapyard. The ex Gordon Spice car - never did find out if he raced it or just sold it. I seem to recall somebody in the owners club asking Spice but that was all.

Must learn not to mock. smile

Someone on the events thread re the Sunday Service said it was great to see the little Ginetta passing the Yank tank Mustang. The Mustang driver popped on and said it was because the Ginetta had a much better driver. hehe
