TVR Factory: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_fT8ad5hT86c/S04L1jHbd_I/... .
Now tell me that the Ginetta factory is messy.

At the end of the day if you want a cheap sports car, the costs have to be recovered somewhere. They could whack up the price of their cars to fund moving to somewhere more like Hethel, but the car is going to be absolutely no different.

Im chuffed with the colour, but finding it was hard. I initially saw it on an old aston DB4 zagato.. Its aston california sage green, but took ages to find someone who could formulate it, as the newer sage (used on modern Astons) is alot darker...
Was gona go with different colour roof, but may do that in future.

Don't do the roof or put stripes on it! That as it is looks more fabulous the more I look at it. Can't wait to see it finished.

A colour can make all the difference to how a car looks. I also like the rear panel (lights reg plate area) - is it matt?

love the colour and I agree, don't do stripes or different coloured roof.

Are you going to post more pictures during the rebuild?

Best of luck with the project

thanks guys..
i saw that colour many years ago, and thought thats a great colour for a G4 series1 (if i ever get one)!
It is a strange colour as sometimes looks greeny gold, sometime more grey..
I thought the matt black rear would bring out the nice lines even more.
I wont do stripes, but i was thinkin of an adhesive vinyl roof at some stage (maybe black, or poss white) so this wouldnt be a permanent thing, to give it that G4R look.
I will defo be posting more pics as it progresses. Am thinkin to have 3-piece minilites for racing, but not sure what colour for those?

Just looked at the pictures again and I think that it will look pants in two tone IMHO. It will would take away the shape. In all the pictures I have seen with a different coloured hard top, I have always thought how naff it looked. It gives it a cheap kit car look instead of a quality classic look.

Sorry if that goes against your thoughts. But it is MHO.

I will get my coat

That blacking out of the rear panel has really worked! Makes the car look perfect...

or is it simply that gorgeous colour?
Did Mark paint it? If so, take 10 out of 10!!

Keep the progress posted Shadi.

Mark took a lot of care in getting the panel gaps spot on and just generally a great finish to the body panels..
The paint was done by their paint guy up north who has been working with the Walkletts for many yrs (20+ i think)
The car also has removable side intrusion bars that are bolted into the chassis, and the roll over bar has additional rear stays.

I like the dark rear, looks good.

Look forward to seeing the build and the finished car.

Out of interest can you still get a road legal G4 new?

hi Jamie, yes Dare still do the current G4 and it will pass IVA.
They are building one at the moment along with a number of other cars; G16, G12, G4 (round and square)

thinkin about wheels
the original steel wheels will be refurbed, but for racing and lightness im thinking of 3-piece minilite style wheels (which HSCC will permit)
these below are by Panasport in USA. Wot about coloured centres??? smile

Yellow: No Way
Red: No Way
Gold, No Way

Painted Silver/Grey, Looks Good, But Why not colour Match them to your cars colour?
Black: Would work as well

If you get me a full side on picture of the body shell (like the side on picture you had of your silver car and send it to me with head on pics of the wheels) I could try and montage them for you like I did when I added the wire wheels.

Hmmm Wire Knock On Wheels would look the business. Not sure how good they are for competition. But really would look the period.....

Have you looked at Image Wheels?
They do a range called BRM which might look good (and they'll be well built, I used Image 3 piece wheels for years on my single seater with no problems) http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/large_wheel_pages/brm...

or how about the classic Revolution 4 spokes (but as 3 piece) http://www.revolutionwheels.com/4-spoke-modular/

I'd back all that. Wouldn't have chrome(polished?) either if that's what those Panasport wheels are. If going to the expense of wheels from the States, why not go to Minilite themselves! They are still going down on the South West coast near Minehead. The old Tech-Del company who advertised with the Canadian G4 in it's advert so 'real' Minilites would be appropriate (might get some sponsorship from them!).
Was going to do a book on Minilite about 2 years ago but it never fully materialised, pity, it's a good story.

thanks for the suggestions
I thought a different colour to the bodywork would work well, but probably silver a good option..
The original minilite co, dont do split rim option, and their 1piece wheel is heavy (6kg+) compared to other copies like compomotive
All split rims come with the polished outer rim, but it can be anodised silver.
The revolution 4 spoke is a nice design but maybe not period 60s, more a 70s wheel.
Panasport are good as they also offer a 1 piece wheel, that is 'ultralight' (4.5kg) and they have a european distributor in Holland, but Image do a nice splitrim also.

the splitrims in a 13 x 5.5 weigh in at about 4kgs each

Revolution will make you a lightweight race wheel in their classic four-spoke design, to your specification. The Revolution wheel would also look very 'period'.
