Ivor confirmed the parts for the wheels were obtained from Rubery Owen and then welded by Ginetta specially for the G4s.

Ivor was also able to shed some light on the history of 15 URO. Chris Webb of practical motorist ordered 25 URO and did the feature on the build in a 1964 issue. His friend Philip Emerton ordered a car at the same time. Both cars were also registered around the same time in watford, hence similar reg's.
Apparently P. Emerton is the other guy in the pic on the '64 issue below. I think Chris Webb is the one on the right.

The reason for the phone box was because his family could not afford a phone, they lived over a parade of shopw and he would sit with the window open waiting for it to ring and then dash down and take the call.

I have a feeling that he died a while ago.
Yeah, I knew that, that's why I said he was 'real' entrepreneur.
I hadn't heard that he died, but real shame if he has. But typical if he has with no 'real' obituary. But then those who deserve recognition rarely get it.

taken at mallory park, think it had a recent repaint...
God, it's still got those ruddy awful plastic indicator lenses! All that money spent you'd think the correct flat glass ones would be fitted.

^^^ I agree. I remember seeing it at Mallory and thinking they looked hideous.
Email Lawrence and tell him to change 'em.

I am so sick whenever I see a picture of '25URO', as my father pointed it out to me when it was for sale in the back of Autosport about 8/9 years back. I didn't appreciate it at the time, accept that the advert mentioned it had been driven by Graham Hill. My father was telling me that if only he had the money to buy it he would have bought it over the phone, but unfortunately he didn't have it. And it was only being advertised at £28,500... frown Hate to think what it's worth now!

Is 15URO to the same spec as 25URO (IRS etc?)

25 URO when it was originally put together had a 1200cc engine, and live axle.
I dont know when the changes were made to IRS and twin cam??

15 URO is also live axle (IRS only on G4R's) but it left the factory with a 1500cc unit. The car comes with the original head (block was replaced), original box and i also have the original reece fish carb...(although will be restored with twin webers)

a pic of 15 URO interior. The original steering wheel is 14" which seems huge when i compare it to the 12.5 inch one in my Dare. I might have to get a replica wheel made in this style but in smaller diameter (but Motolita quoted me £200.00!!)

witham is a "long" time ago.

today with its todays sales prices i guess a potential buyer expects a bit more tidyness...anyway...i cant afford to buy new...but seeing this i would think twice about buying such a car.

Are you aware that this is a temporary facility located on a farm and not a showroom...
their previous premises at Mersea was very smart actually, but they had to move. plus this photo was taken round the back of one of the barns, so is bound to look messy..

plus there are some more intersting things to look at than the 'mess' wink

I think it has been 'temporary' for a while - a bit like the Old Fire Station at Witham being acquired 'temporarily' to use as a laminating shop - they were still using it when they moved. I would agree that Mersea was better than a farmyard, but 'smart' is stretching it a bit - Shorpe was 'smart'...

This is a ginetta forum, for the discussion of all things ginetta. I cannot recall any post by you which is productive or helpful to anyone in any way. You seem to be living out some personal vendetta on a public forum instead of dealing with whatever your problem is directly with those concerned. Why not get involved and say something useful or constructive which may help someone? If not

you know what - I think the Winner has a fair point - people in glass houses etc...and in any case I have to say that looking at some of your responses to Mr Winners posts in the past I think you should chill and maybe think about the point being made - you seem ever so eager to jump to belittle...

so mr winner has made a 'fair point' by using the analogy that making st in a shed is not very upmarket...?!

i can agree that the premises could be nicer etc..
but i am more concerned by the quality of the product or workmanship rather than where its done... If for Dare to be functioning they need to operate from a farm then thats fine with me.. Unfortunately, some are quick to critise unnecessarily.. Ginetta is a small marque with a relatively small following so i find it strange that this happens so much on here.
It would be refreshing if the actual topic in question was intelligently discussed, but im just a boring enthusiast what do i know...!
i have more pics but only of the car im afraid
