Traditionally, most models of Ginettas could only be driven by extremely small people. I hope that the G40 has more realistic ergonomics.

Any uninitiated car enthusiast wandering onto the Ginetta threads reading that would think the cars could only be driven by members of the Snow White cast!

Some of the cars are 'extremely small' which makes them exceptional for a 6ft1 (albeit slim as said) person to be able to drive comfortably. The G15 and (later Dare) G4 is a case in point.

I'm 182cm tall and the Dare G4 fits as a glove.
And there's enough room for breathing also...

I am lucky to own a G40 Challenge Car and at 6ft 1 with lanky long legs, I actually need to move the seat 3 to 4 notches forward to not stretch, so don't worry fellas, it may be a small car on the outside but it fits tall people very comfortably. The steering column is reach and height adjustable as well so it actually feels like a GT car to sit in. I'd go so far as to say its the most comfortable and purposeful feeling of all the small British sports cars.

Good to know, how are you finding it out on track Simon?

I think with the whole tall person/small car issue is that most people forget we stretch our feet out rather then sit on top of the pedals. Hence why most airbags crack ribs...

I am 6ft and easily fitted in the G33, my son at 6ft 3" is a bit tall to be comfy for more than a couple of hours

My car is realy used for track hire and coaching so I've not actually driven it much, but the fact I get out wanting more (unlike the Hethel special I raced last year) is a good sign.

They can be quite edgey on the limit specially if the set up is not right for the tyres but reasuringly it takes allot to knock the set up off line so things look good for the road version.

or even better? the R36 engine...

or the 3.7 Duratec V6 with 305hp

ford said:
The Duratec 3.7 is the 3.5 but bored out slightly to make it 3721 cc. This results in 273hp output. For 2010, Ford introduced a version of this engine for the Mustang, with Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (both intake and exhaust) or Ti-VCT, resulting in 305 hp and still achieving 31 mpg highway. The redline is 7000 RPM. The first vehicle to use this was the 2011 Mustang

I found an evo article the other night regarding the best trackday car of this year. Had the usual caterham, westfield, lotus but then it also had a Chevron and the Ginetta G40. IIRC they all agreed it was under powered which let it down (test driving 150bhp version) but they also said Ginetta were willing to boost it to 300bhp as an optional extra!

300hp in such car makes it a monster, thats what some of us (like me) like...
not that you always need it, but then you don't have to push it all the time and have some in reserve when you "need" the thrills.

nice link, thx for sharing.
That Chevron GR8 sounds lovely.
that G40 seems to be very good, only needs 100hp more to make it a better car in competition.
seeing the Chevron (which looks very nice) is double the price of the G40, me thinks the G40 is a good basis and some money left to get that faster engine in it biggrin
Also the Exige still looks great...
only the gear linkage? have to be fixed (make it better some way?) so to hear.

The Chevron has a design you need to get used to but that noise is just insane.
