Hello.

Today I thought I'd finally get around to fitting an aux connection to my 6000CD stereo (Fiesta '06)

I put 2 of the removal keys into the bottom slots, and they're now stuck.

I've tried putting the other 2 keys in to try and get it the unit out and remove them that way, but still no luck. The bottom keys won't even remove it

I've since found out that the keys only need to go in a cm or so, but these are shoved right in.

Idiocy, I know banghead

Any suggestions welcome, smile

Thanks

Yeah, looks like you've put the keys in the wrong way round. It needs to be curved side inwards. Easy mistake to make, and can be a bugger to undo. Silly design, they should not be able to get stuck if you put them in wrong.

Sorry I can't be more help. Brute force or dismantling the dashboard are the only possibilities I know of.

Ive done this before, I removed mine by putting a screwdriver through the hole in the key and pulling on it, ( you should also be able to unclip the stereo buttons to save them from being scratched )

Cheers guys,

I'll work on it again over the weekend. I feel like I'm going to be driving around with these sticking out forever

Good news!!

I finally sat down this afternoon with my tools and I managed to get them out! biggrin

It was the feeler gauges that did it smile Stuck on of them in the slots on top of it and wiggled the key out smile

Hope someone can help.
previous owner (alright it was me frown) has managed to break off the internal catch in one corner while trying to remove a key that was inserted the wrong way round...
the other side unlocks and I have tried all sorts of knives in the broken slot.
is the next step to break the fascia?
or anyone got any bright ideas?
Many thanks

Hi

I have managed to inset all 4 keys too far and couple of them the wrong way, (I thought would be a simple and quick job to remove so didn't look it up -_-) and i wanted to know if there are any techniques or steps to removing them since they are all well and truley stuck in.

Cheers

Patrick

I had this problem as my battery went flat and I had to get the radio out to get the serial number so I could go online and get the code and I went to halfords and got the keys but I put them in the wrong way and I couldn't get them out and force did not work.

I eventually got the radio out with the keys still in the wrong way and then I got a small screwdriver and I prodded it in the back of the radio where the keys get slid in and they keys popped out quite easily.
