Hi,

Been struggling to find out why my Focus 2002 1.6 16v Zetec Petrol wont run properly. Hoping someone on here might be able to help been trawling the forums trying to solve this. Have takin the car to two independent garages but neither knew what it was. One removed exhaust to see if cat was blocked. The other said it was the coil...

Car idle is lumpy and pops from intake and exhaust when cold.

Once warmed up the revs die to 400rpm and it often dies and wont restart until it has cooled down. If the revs are kept high it will run ok. It is only when idling. It also sticks at about 2200 rpm when revved at a standstill.

The car is running too rich, plugs are black but seem ok. Code P0172 bank one too rich occasionally comes up.

Another coil has been tested, no difference.
Upstream (green) Lambda changed.
MAP sensor changed
Crank sensor changed.
Cam sensor resistance ok.
Evap canister inspected.
Head temperature sensor resistance and readings ok.
Bright spark from each plug although leads and plugs not changed.
No vacuums leaks found
Fuel filter changed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Dont think its the ICV its been cleaned and symtoms dont fit. Put wrong code up it is logging P1132

After wasting too much time on it I think its between fuel injectors, fuel lines fuel pump or ECU.. Will have to try and measure the fuel rail pressure and go from there.

Cheers,

Ross.

P1132 is running rich,I know you have checked the cyl head temp sensor but I would change it anyway.

Been ages, thought I should post what was wrong with car incase anyone else has similar problems.

Crank pulley had slipped, pulley is not keyed to crank on these cars.. Was glad to get rid of it!
