Should be easy I know but having spent a few minutes fruitlessly wiggling this spade-shaped doodah on the other side of the rear bumper -

I'm not too ashamed to be asking for advice from the PH experts. All help gratefully received.

Most bulb holders require a firm turn to unlock before they come out. Not really familiar with the Focus but other Fords usually require a push in and twist to the left.

Aye, it's getting to the bulbholder that I'm stuck on, I can't see how to remove the clear plastic lens in order to get at the bulbholder. There's a tab wotsit that you can see in the pic (the square-shaped piece with a recess to the right of the black rectangle) which presumably has something to do with releasing the housing (which is full of water) but after wiggling it in every direction i'm getting no joy.

Are you sure its the bulb that's gone ? My reversing light stopped working a few months back, turned out to be the reversing light switch.

Well, I don't know for sure if it's the bulb, the housing is full of water so it could be corrosion in there, either way I need to empty it out. Seems a crazy design tbh, where they've put it it's bound to collect water.

Brilliant, thanks Lu51fer, that explains why I couldn't get it off, I was pushing the tab down but not in. Thanks again.

Well hopefully its just a blown bulb, the switch is a bit more of a mission!

The switch is a 5 minute job with a spanner under the front of the car on my Fiesta. Gearbox sensor had failed - about a tenner if it is.

The focus one you need to remove the battery and battery holder, remove air filter top and holder, then you can get to the sender (22mm spanner)
