I know they already offer the Stage 1 flash map that's very impressive, how are they going to make it Warranty friendly?
By offering a warranty! No changes to the calibration but obviously many things need to be put in place legally i.e disclaimers etc.

The biggest causes of engine failures are down to the end user. Using the wrong fuel, thrashing from cold, not checking the engine oil etc.. To the best of my knowledge there have never been any failures as a direct result of the tune or hardware, and there are approx 1000 PERON customers worldwide including Asia/Australia where the climate is a lot hotter and humid.

Would certainly be a plus point for many potential customers who want a plug and play solution with some proper gains in torque and driveability.

I certainly have no issues recommending them as a viable alternative. Put another way, you have engineering in their products that is class leading but without the ceilings put in place by Ford on their calibrations to which MT have to adhere to. I like their products for sure, but the results fell short for me, so its PERON all the way.

Interesting and oftentimes amusing reading. There is probably no right or wrong option, they're all much the same to the normal driver, Button, Webber, they'd exploit fully, you and me, don't kid yourself. I'm having the MR230 done at 09:00 tmrw morning, why? Who cares. Google it. Mountune are good at what they do, there is little doubt. So are many others, Pumaspeed are particularly enticing for example. It makes no odds, do what you wanna do, it's the end game that matters, what you want from the car I guess. For me, I just want a plain looking fiesta that kicks the proverbial out of the idiot boy racer who wants to try to 'beat' the fiesta, on the road. I also quite enjoy keeping in eyeball distance of the occasional Porsche driver at Cadwell, I find that especially satisfying and that's in a fairly tame MP215, I can't waite for the MR230! They're all great, just pick your favourite, stop gassing and get the work done. Easy.

More info for people interested -

Stage 1 + now capable of 203 WHP (so thats 230bhp flywheel even being conservative for transmission loss) and 265 lb ft torque (360NM) with just a 98 ron calibration and ITG induction kit, the filter itself adds 7 whp alone so shows the restriction of the stock airbox and element.

Tbh with the money saved , you could get yourself an Quaife ATB fitted, and Tarox 6-pots, and still have left over change.

Here's the hub dyno results with a stock car overlay, completely standard it ran 169 WHP, which equates to Ford's 200bhp figure with overboost.

Hi all,

Picked up a year old ST-3 yesterday to replace my much-loved Megane 250 Cup. First impressions are brilliant - loving all the toys (heated seats are incredible, though maybe a bit too hot!) and, although it wasn't necessarily the best weather this morning for its first run to work, I didn't want to get out as I had such a smile on my face. Mountune MP215 is definitely planned - maybe for Easter, so that I can appreciate the difference. One question if I may: does it affect the MPG (which incidentally, I am very impressed with so far!)? Anyway, hope this love affair lasts - almost as importantly, my wife absolutely loves the car (and is trying to wrestle the keys off me instead of her Octavia VRS!).

I'm currently very interested in making one my next car after 5 years in a Scirocco.

Not driven one yet but all the reviews seem to think they're the best small hot hatch on the market.

Started looking at 1-2 year old st3's but there doesn't seem to be much available + after checking DTD I can get an St3 with every option ticked for less than £16,500
So I'm now thinking of buying a new one in blue

Just need to convince the wife now.driving

Just bought an ST-3 as a surprise present for my wife. She's a proper petrolhead and been a Subaru fan for a long time, but her last 2.5 WRX had an engine meltdown so had to go. She's massively impressed with the ST, and I think we need a custody plan as I've rather taken to it too. A lovely blend of old school hot hatch feel but big car niceties.

After 4 months abusing the Bridgestones (to get rid of the things, they are awful in the damp/wet) I've found the Conti SC3 are an absolute godsend.
Granted they can't really handle super cold greasy weather too well but anything above freezing and with torrential downpours/super dry weather they're brilliant.

Granted I still have a set of the standard Bridgestones on the back but that almost makes it more fun with lift off silliness.

1 year in and still absolutely loving my ST3 MT215.

Just thought I'd see how every is getting on with their ST since we all posted on here.

We've just returned from a weekend driving around the Brecon Beacons. Really makes me realise how much the car is wasted back here in London. It's just the right amount of power to use without getting into trouble, or taking risks/liberties on the great roads of Wales.

I bought my '13 ST2 with 12000 on the clock, from a Ford dealer but, thus far, the readout is still doggedly stuck on 33mpg, in gentle use.

Part of that may be down to a braking judder I have had, since collecting the car back in December and the dealer has looked at it and is going to replace all four discs and pads. I suspect the discs are warped as they occasionally groan, eerily, at low speed too.
I've done barely 2000 miles in it and drive it sporadically but it's never been right and may be why I, thus far, preferred my Mk 6.
Has to be said that the whole brakes issue has clouded my judgement, thus far so I'll come back when they've done the brakes.

I had the door plates replaced under warranty too as 3 of the 4 halves had failed. Common issue it appears. Had the 4th half gone, I would never had known they were meant to light up.

Other than that, the main downside of the car appears to be the cheap fittings, it's a long way off being a quality car.

The noisy brake issue was resolved on later models with a change of friction material for the pads. I personally run Tarox on my own car and the brakes are silent.

Reset the trip computer, even my PERON Stage 3 hybrid with 280bhp will do well over 40mpg and its normally 35-36mpg, it gets driven hard too.

I reset it when I bought it as I specifically wanted to compare it to my previous Fiesta St which also had a dogged determination to stick to 33mpg.

You should reset every time you fill. If you've never reset in 2000 miles the average will take ages to change, if at all.

I've the Mountune MR230 (awesome btw) and regularly achieve 46 - 48mpg when I drive relatively easy between South Yorkshire and Norfolk visiting the family. 50/50 split between dual carriage and A road.

Well this is not going well.

The local dealer replaced all the brakes in a bid to cure a slight wobble and pull I had on the car. However, replacing those simply highlighted a wobble I was having, to all
intents and purposes, seeming to correlate to a wheel balance issue.

Being fastidious, I paid for a wheel alignment and rebalance of the front wheels (the dealer fitted new tyres before delivery so this was an outside chance) but while it was a mite better, I still get wobble between 65 and 80mph. This was particularly galling after parting with about £40 and because the steering feel on the ST isn't great anyway.

So it's going in again, on Wednesday, in another bid to cure the wobble.

On a separate point, the tyres they fitted were Cooper Zeons and I am wondering if these "cheap tyres" may have balancing issues.
Additionally, the clutch bites very early on these cars - almost feels like there's not much life in them?

Sorry to bump an old comment but I saw this and thought I would put my two pence worth in. I too found that the standard fit Bridgestone tyres were rubbish in the wet or damp and, as such, I changed them for Conti Sport Contact 5s. The difference is night and day really, particularly in the wet.

The only downside to the Contis is that they seem to be wearing more quickly but I suppose that their lifespan is probably explained by the extra grip they seem to offer.

I still have the Bridgestones on the back as well as the rears barely wear at all and should last for many years to come. Also, the fronts are doing the vast majority of the important work (i.e. putting the power down, turning and braking) anyway so I have learned to live with the differing tyres front to rear.

As for the car, I have owned mine since December 14 and I have done a little over 20k miles in it now. I still think it is a fantastic car and worthy of all of the accolades it has received. My only criticism is that the hard suspension can become a little tiresome on longer journeys but, then again, it's no worse than a lot of other small hot hatches and I only really notice it when carrying passengers.

Sadly, I will be selling my car within the next few weeks as I have decided to get a slightly bigger car for the pending arrival of first baby. Otherwise, the Fiesta would have been staying for some time to come.

For anyone reading this and wondering whether to get an ST, it comes highly recommended from me and I have no doubt that other hot hatch fans will love its old school character.

ST2's are roughly £11,000-12,000 with 10k miles on them.
Do people think they are worth that much at the moment?

I'm in need of a car and I really like the looks and what the Fiesta ST has to offer. Just haven't driven one yet.

Last year Mrs Podie picked up a 1 year old ST3 at a Ford main dealer with 17k on it for £13k. We both do about 7k a year, so the mileage will average out in the next year or two. Great car - real hoot to drive.
