2008 Ford S max 2.0 tdci problem.Help ?????

My problem first started when Egr valve spring jammed open.I had it changed and car ran fine for about 6 months.After a service and mot in May this year my exhaust had 2 small holes in it so I had the back and middle replaced.Since then my car starting running like the Egr valve had gone again (same symptoms).Exhaust was checked and deemed ok so I replaced the Egr again as it was under warranty.The car ran ok for about a week then started playing up again.Poor acceleration, a burning smell from starting up
Surging when driving and it sounds rough.Called Rac out and he got an Egr fault code.He cleared it and drove the car.He advised me to change the Egr again which I have done and the car ran perfectly for 4 days and on the 5th day a slight kick whilst driving and then its back to square 1 again with the original problem.Any ideas please????
