To follow on. The PCM needs updating to tell it the additional coolant pump is fitted in line with Ford technical service bulletin 35/2012. I had this carried by a local Ford franchise at a cost of £65. Unless you have the correct software you wont be able to carry out the PCM update.

Hi, i'm planning on buying a 66reg 1L ecoboost 125bhp however have come across the coolant leak issues discussed on a number of forums. It seems the issues were in the 2012/13 models however I was hoping for some reassurance that technology has improved since. Has anyone got any advice or had any experience with a model of this reg? My commute is on A roads so the thought of having to stop the engine asap due to coolant loss is not good!
Thanks in advance

66 plate should be fine, the problem pipe was changed by Ford and they've had plenty of time to iron out any additional bugs by now. The little 3 cylinder engine is now the most commonly used by Ford so they seem to have ample faith in it. I have one on 64 plate and was debating swapping it this year but I've decided to keep it since it's a pretty solid little thing.

A quick update for those interested, our 63 plate Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost just had another service at 91k miles. Engine still running sweet as a nut.

The waterpump is still spitting out coolant as it needs a top up once every few months, and there is red staining on the alternator. The coolant was topped up and I will continue to monitor.

Interestingly, the front brake pads and discs finally need replacing, after 91k miles! I have never experienced brake discs and pads to last this long.

The rear shoes will also be replaced as weirdly the shoe on the drivers side was worn. The passenger side shoe was not nearly as worn, but the brake does not appear to be sticking, at least not at cold temperature when tested at the garage.

Another update just 3 weeks after my last post.

We have noticed the temperature when driving only gets to 3 bars (normally the car sits at 4 bars and never changes). Occasionally it will drop to 2 bars whilst driving.
Today I parked the car up after a long drive and left it to idle on the drive. Within 2 minutes the temperature had gone up to 4 bars, which is making me think the thermostat needs replacing.

I'm wondering if it's worth doing the Waterpump as precaution at the same time while things are being taken apart. And maybe flush and replace the coolant at the same time, since we are fast approaching 100k miles.

Hi guys, I have a 2015 fiesta black edition (140ps). Mileage 29K.

My engine management light suddenly came on and then all of a sudden I lost power and the car began to shudder violently. After inspection of my spark plugs it was quite apparent that oil is somehow killing my spark plug 1 (misfiring).

The engine also does not stay on, I need to keep my foot on the accelerator just to keep the engine on. Even when rolling at 30 mph.. if I push the clutch to the floor the engine rpms lower untill the engine cuts out!

My question is what could have caused this?
Does anyone else have or have had a similar issue?

And finally what do you guys recommend as

Have you owned it from new?
Have you had it mapped?
Was it mapped when you bought it?

Don't keep driving it. You'll kill it permanently. Don't commute or visit McDonalds in it. Get it sorted asap.

I got the car on 16k millage.
I had a stage 1 Map along with A Mountune Induction kit and charge pipe upgrade kit.
The car was on roughly 22k when all this was done.

Hi Zad, could this issue arise from putting much oil into the car as that could be the case. I recently had my car serviced.. upon collection of the car the mechanic told me i old had 2 litres of oil in the car and that was "Bad". He then went on to say how he had put the entire 5L bottle of oil into my engine. I have now checked the owners manual and it say I should have between 3.8 - 4.2L of oil? what do you think?

Having only 2L of oil is a bigger issue, no oil warning light?

If the tune was done 7k miles ago, that was most likely less than a year, did Road Rage Performance give you a one year warranty?

Significant amounts of oil on one spark plug and the engine running on two cylinders (the shuddering) sounds like possible piston/ring failure in that cylinder.
