Mondeo Mk2 rear bumper

Hi, I recently had the bumper on my other half's Mk2 Mondeo 5 door hatch replaced with an aftermarket jobby but the quality and fit is not that great. I managed to source a NOS with which I believe is the correct part number 1111876. Received it today and on the bottom middle edge there are 2 what I can best describe as channels with a small hole in each. My original bumper was flush in that area as is the aftermarket one.

Does anyone know what they're for and if it is the correct part?

That's a 09/99 to 09/2000 4/5 Dr saloon unpainted finnis code all trim models, the holse are for 2 bracing brackets so if your vehical is earlyer it may have been an update or if later a deleited item ?

The car is registered 12/99 so this is the correct replacement bumper?

Yes mate according to Fords parts program, if a later bumper was bought out (with the added brackets) all replacements would be the later type, it could be the early ones vibrated or flexed and cracked the paint so later ones had extra brackets ??? or your cars build date was earlyer than that part is for, build dates can be a lot earlyer than reg dates ?
