So what changed your mind then, as your original post from 2015 commented on "Huge reliability issues".

I'm interested by your experience of the 140PS - does it feel as punchy as I imagine it would, having had a Focus loan car with only 100PS which felt quite nippy.
I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Like you, my opinion was formed on some internet hearsay. My opinion had no basis in fact and was purely subjective based on what I have read.

I have a ST-Line 140PS and have done 25k trouble free miles.

As I said, given basically every single Focus and Fiesta has this engine, if there were major problems it would be much more widely reported.

Check on the Ford ETIS website for any outstanding recalls and whether they have been done although, as noted above, the 1.o Ecobbost recall was only in relation to the Focus.

I had two Mk 7 Fiesta STs and the Mk 7 Fiesta is a great little car.

What I was getting at was that you went from saying, basically, "Its a Ford so I wouldn't own one" adding comments about the reported engine issues, to actually owning one, which you'll admit is a pretty big shift. I was just intruiged as to what it was that changed your mind from apparent Ford hater and sceptic to Ford owner. If it was a company car, then fair enough. Not having a go, just interested as someone who is in a similar boat (but actually a Ford fan) but initially put off by all the negative stuff relating to the ecoboost engine, which contrary to what you say are actually fairly widely reported as any google search will confirm.....

Anyway I now understand its more the Focus ecoboost that has the issues, so that's all good news. Need to test drive one now. Cheers.

Did I not explain exactly why I made a "pretty big shift" ?

Again, I explained why I changed my opinion (which was basically the same as yours IE NO EXPERIENCE.

1) Given the engine in the Focus is the same as the Fiesta it makes little difference
2) Google ANY car for problems and you will get nothing but pages of problems............ don't believe everything you read on the internet.....

Because, again as I said previously - Noone goes online to post a positive experience.
Many people also post in multiple places.
A mass produced car with 100k units shifted will have some problems. I suspect ecoboost failure rate due to actual fault and not owner negligence is less than 1%.
