Sync issues with ios - "No autoplay whilst indexing tracks"

I have a 62 plate ST2 which has suddenly decided is doesnt like playing with my iphone through the USB - Im on the latest version of ios (no recent updates). Ive also tried it with an ipod and different connection cabes. The car recognises that something is connected via the USB but is stuck on "No autoplay whilst indexing tracks"
Bluetooth and Aux through the 3.5 jack are fine, its purely USB issues.

I had this issue about 3/4 months ago too, but is somehow resolved itself - anyone else had these problems, and what were you able to do to get past it?
