Greetings one and all, I am fairly new to this website so i just thought id say hi, and also I am looking for advice on cars.
Just a heads up I am Dyslexic so if any words are not spelled right then i do apologize.

OK now onto the cars.

I am getting a ford focus 205-2011 model, that i am set on, and i know its most likely going to be a 1.8 petrol. but my i only have a few questions about that and was hoping to get some answers on here.
OK so the questions are:

What Modifications are available and what do they do? and are they worth it?

Can anybody tell me any issues they have had with modifying there focus?

what are the essentials when modifying a car? where are the best places to go? (I.E big chain companies or little one off places)

What sort of performance can I expect to get out of either a 1.6 or 1.8 petrol focus with the modifications?

what body kits are out there for a 5 door focus?

sorry if some of these questions are weird I Have very little mechanical knowledge what so ever.

thanks for reading and hope you have a good weekend.

The grammar Nazis are coming to get ya biggrin

Aside from that, the answer you probably don't want to hear is don't bother. You're not going to get anything meaningful by throwing money at trying to 'improve' a cooking Focus.
Don't, save your money and buy something better to start with. You could have a Focus ST like mine for not much above SOTW money, for example.
Or, you could be patient, save and spend wisely.

Wouldn't bother, to be honest. If you want to make it quicker get a 2ltr in the first place. 1.6 and 1.8 are not great and not many places do sensible price mods, as not many people would do it. 2ltr would be cheaper to insure than a modded 1.8. Usual stuff for modding is the air filter and exhaust, which will give you noise and not a lot else. Proper mods , to give more power, would be a ported head, cams etc,but that's very expensive and you'll probably make 40bhp.
If you want a fast ford, you have to start with a fast ford, like an ST etc.

Sorry - another 'don't bother' response. Sometimes you can turn something slow into something a bit more interesting but a 'cooking' Focus simply isn't a good starting point.

thank you all so much for your replies. i am looking at the 2.0 focus and possibly thinking aabout one, which would be better a 2.0 tdci (what does that stand for anyway?) or a petrol?

Thought about an ST170? Can be tricky to find a good one (I got a pretty good one recently) but I'm enjoying mine. Fuel economy is rubbish however. That is an older shape car though.
