Bought my daughter a Ford Focus (2001)

Seeing as she didn't feel safe driving her old Audi Cabrio
Anyway, there are three problems with it that I would welcome any suggestions of first places to look to fix.
1. The rear wiper doesn't work. Is there a separate fuse to check first or is it a change the motor job?
2. The volume control stalk for the radio (next to the steering wheel) doesn't work.
3. The heated windscreen doesn't work.
Any help will be lavishly rewarded with virtual beers.
Ta.

1) check the fuse (see the manual or lid of the fuse box). Also, seem to recall there are contacts on the boot - give them a clean (or was that the Escort?)Anyway, there are three problems with it that I would welcome any suggestions of first places to look to fix.

2) is it the original head unit? Check the cable at both ends (on the steering control and the head unit). People often replace the original head unit prior to sale and forget to connect it.
3) check fuses - if not, it's new screen time.
Re the heated windscreen...
Under the scuttle panel at the bottom of the screen, there's a wire at each side which tends to go brittle... have a google, plenty of write ups on how to do this properly...
The stereo controls might not have been reconnected if it's had an aftermarket headunit put in at some time or another, so whip the stereo out & have a feel around for a spare connector...

What a load of bks - The insulation goes brittle and brittle insulation does not stop things workingUnder the scuttle panel at the bottom of the screen, there's a wire at each side which tends to go brittle... have a google, plenty of write ups on how to do this properly...

Now if you have a wire with brittle insulation that has broken off and is shorting to earth or another wire and blowing a fuse, thats a different scenario
