To confirm the above, I made enquiries to a couple of helpful dealers today, to be told if I ordered now I could expect a car for Mar 2017.
I can't wait that long for a car! confused

So, do we think you could drive it for a few months, and then sell it on for list price?

Supply seems to be a bit of a joke.

My business takes me into a few different Franchise showrooms, including some FordStores. Chatted to one dealer principal very recently about RS and Mustang who sounded pretty frustrated! His words ''Its just fantastic - we're one of 60 special FordStores and we can't get the cars to sell - We're told Mustang is currently up to 10 months and Focus RS March 2017 - and we get told to manage customers expectations! I'm sick of it and would rather just be selling mainstream models''

I don't really get it myself. Surely Ford must be missing out by releasing these models and then not being able to supply them for so long? Yes there's always the die-hard fans who say its worth the wait, but surely a heck of a lot of people will just buy something else? There's bound to be more exciting new stuff launched in the near future from other manufacturers to tempt buyers as well.

A lot of manufacturers do it, so perhaps Ford want a bit of the fun. Most M models are the same and good luck getting a GT3/GT4 or RS. I'm not saying it is right but keeping interest and residuals strong will bring brand loyalty long term.

I'm after a finance quote for one. I have contacted 3 dealers, visited one. None of them have got back to me - i'm chasing them daily!

The one I visited said everything's on the website - but it only quotes for 3 years and I want to see the options for 4 and 5yrs. He also told me if you want one quicker go to another dealer and he gave me their name and address.

Ordered yesterday. Was told March 2017 for delivery! That works fine for me but can understand it putting some buyers off. Hopefully these cars will hold their money very well!!

Finance quote subject to rates changing in 12 months time? Not surprising no one wants to put it in writing it may be quite different numbers come 1 years time.

They are probably assuming that you cannot afford it hence asking for the longer finance terms. They have sold so many there's a 12 month list so they aren't in a hurry to follow up on sales that aren't that great. st customer service but it's likely they are busy. This car will attract all sorts of chancers I'd imagine

Agree with what you say .. they just seem to be going about it in an odd way .. one Ford dealer I call on reputedly spent 1 mil on expansion and improvements driven by the need for a dedicated FordStore area for Vignale, RS and Mustang .... and for what seems like forever now there's just been the same solitary Vignale sitting in there !

So does anyone know when the first cars are arriving in the showrooms?

I was told by a Dealer Principal months ago that his RS was arriving Monday 21st March, I rang him today only to be told that its been delayed and hes not expecting it until the middle of next month if he's lucky, or more likely, end of next month.

Any ideas why?

My dealer says his demo car is showing as built on Jan 19th, but still hasn't been released for transport.

Technical problems in relation to certain components overheating, but apparently resolved now.
First deliveries reported to have started now, just not to the UK yet.

Not over heating, there were issues with the PTU mounts and they Ford weren't happy with them so they pulled them all off the line

The following quote is apparently from somebody who works in the Saarlouis plant.
"overheating of clutch hydraulic system and overheating of electronic module for steering system"
Who knows what the genuine reason was and do we really care, but it caused a delay anyway. biggrin

Mine is from Jurgen Gagstatter who is the Chief Engineer at Ford Performance in an interview he gave at a technical presentation for the Focus RS Owners club
