Seems fast but can't cope with more than 15 mins on track before various bits shut down.

I think the car will be dogged with thechnical issues, they pushed too far, and too hard IMO.

That's why the little extra to extend the warranty to 5 years was a no brainer for me.

15mins solid on track for a road car is good going. At no point does it claim to be a racing car, so I'm not sure why people are complaining so much. I'd be surprised if there's much left in the tank after 15mins flat out either...

My friend Italy, said this happened on a Ford demonstration day at a track. It was only the drift mode that would shut it down though!

They did manage to get a front tyre off its rim though!

Was at the press day in Spain not Italy I thought

I'm not sure that other link is that much of a surprise though. If you hammer a car hard enough something will break

No, it was Italy, maybe 2 occasions then!

I've seen other posts about tyre side walls cracking too!

Its quite a heavy car for its size. Multiple laps on track in reasonably heavy cars will indeed knacker tyres pretty quickly. I imagine the a45 etc would do the same.

Good luck mate, rumour has it order books may close but who knows, the rumour mill is rife with nonsense!
I'm hoping they will build up to and including all order already placed?!

You'd hope so, they certainly haven't had any problem taking peoples' money so far!
I read the article in this month's fast ford where they picked up a new one - the process on how it gets put together is quite interesting.

Interesting read thanks for sharing.

I think in reality most ( myself included) owners will do 6 laps on a track day then take the car in for a break. On most track days the briefing suggests 10-15 mins then cool the car down and bring it in.

My thinking is that this will be a great road car and a perfect B road car made for lane hooning and maybe some car trips where the car isn't as mileage sensitive as maybe Porsche Ferrari etc.
I'd not want to murder the car on track rather have fun with it if that makes sense, there's normally always some bloke in a faster car anyhow that usually can't drive but is only quicker as he can afford the latest super car !

So anyone thinking a limited edition 500 RS on the cards ?

They've been working on an uprated version and it's been seen testing but nothing has come of It yet. There is still a possibility

I'm picking up a brand new ST this evening from the local Ford dealer, was chatting to them on Saturday about why they hadn't brought the RS here (Dubai), I'd assumed it was because it would dent Mustang Sales.

Apprently it can't handle the weather here, they brought one in for a Sheikh, he got sick of calling roadside assistance out and gave it back, they had another one for testing at Dubai Autodrome and literally went into limp mode at the first sign of a thrashing.

I'm not too sure I'm that convinced by that. Parts of the US and Australia see temps easily as high as Dubai, and it's sold there!

Saw my first one over the weekend. Loved it. Couldn't get over how terribly tacky the RS badge looked though. My god on a car like this its awful.

Indeed. It gets pretty hot in Nevada and Oz etc. Just sounds like a bullst story.

There was an RS at Trax at Silverstone on the weekend. Well lots of RS's actually but this one was drawing quite a crowd. Turns out it was just a Scorpion exhaust system and an induction kit but wow it was making an amazing noise.

I thought I might have been upset after the lovely noise my 5cylinder ST and my impreza sound, but this made me very happy and my mates that were with me quite jealous. It made quite an amazing noise for any type of car let alone a 4pot.

Don't really see what they've got to gain by lying about it but who knows.

I've got the ST now, was chatting about it some more whilst they brought the car round, also the reason they can't get the Fiesta ST as well.
