Making an 08 1.6 (Petrol) Focus quicker..

Evening all,

Scraping the barrel here. Bought a ford Focus back in May, and i'd prefer it to be quicker.

What (relatively) cheap mods can i do to make it quicker? I've searched remaps as I understand they're kind of a go-to, but the one i found only gives a 9bhp gain.

Please advise

Unfortunately, so is getting more power unless you spend £0000's...

Run it, clean it, enjoy it, and start saving for your next car.

A 1.6 focus is not going to get quicker...

Driver training.

Seriously.

There's no point chucking thousands at a 1.6 Focus when you can save it towards your next car, and training is a mod you can take with you to any car you own in the future.

Remaps on a non-turbo engine is largely useless. On bigger engines, sure, maybe - but on a 1.6 you wouldn't notice anything.
Nothing I'm afraid, will just make it louder and more annoying.
Sell it and buy a TDI one.

Don't bother with a custom air filter unless you are going to fit a cold air kit too. But by the time you factor in all the money you would have to spend on cams, custom mapping, induction kits, exhaust, manifold blahblah, then you could have got a 2.0 and insured it for less.
