Focus 1.6 Petrol - Possible Clutch Release Bearing?

Brother just rang, his MK2 1.6 petrol focus was fine this morning then gone to start the car and sounds like a loose bearing he described, someone said clutch release bearing, but the noise doesn't fully go when the clutch is pressed, does it on start up and idle, but was absolutely fine when he drove to work this morning?

I might be wrong but the fact it was fine this morning to me wouldn't say the release bearing? Im not mechanic really so hoping you guys could correct me or have any other avenues for us to explore?

If it was the release bearing it would get worse when the clutch is depressed, if it gets better it's the input shaft bearing, worse release bearing ?
