Hi Guy's,

A customer has got a 1.7 puma (from memory it was a 2000 model) and it suddenly stopped on him.

Ive tried everything and can't get it to spark at the plugs. no error codes are coming up.

I've changed plugs, leads, coil pack, cam shaft sensor, rail loom, another ECU and still nothing.

Ive also checked the plug going to the coil pack which the centre pin is live when the ignition is on but I've read that the two outer pins should pulse as a negative when the engine is cranked which it doesn't. Ive checked continuity from them to the ECU and they are fine.

Can anyone please give me some help on this?

Many thanks in advance

Alan

Immobiliser kicked in? What's the light on the dash telling you key recognised?

The light on the dash stays lit for around 3 seconds and then goes off. which I'm thinking is right?

Ive also tried the locking and leaving for a few minutes before unlocking.

Any other tips/advice?

Thanks

Have you tried the spare key?

Agree with above, sort of sounds immobiliser issue with the amount you have changed!

No great feedback - but i can confirm this is how the immobilizer should work. Trying the spare key can't hurt, but I would be surprised if that made a difference.

I've already tried the spare key.

Any other thoughts? Or is it possible todisable the immobiliser?

Thanks

I have had a condenser fail, the only thing that stopped was the spark.

Yes, this was on a carb model 1.3 Mazda 323 "midge" with electronic ignition. It was the using of copper HT leads and not carbon ones that caused this.
