Just wondering what people think is a realistic price to ask for one of these as a private sale in the current market?
There seems to be quite a variation in price of ST2's & ST3's on the market and there aren't that many ST1's to compare with. The 2013 cars seem to be hovering around the 10k mark now...
The car in question is a 2015 model, standard save for the Mountune upgrade, has done 17.5k and is immaculate - been on the market over a week but no interest, there is a lot to choose from out there I suppose...
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I guess it depends on how much the Mountune upgrade is worth on second hand market, and also how much more buyers value ST-2 over ST-1. There is a non-Mountune 64 plate ST-2 with 15k miles on for £10250 which looks very good value.

Cheers, that does seem very cheap for an ST2. I thought mine was well priced at £11650 but as you say I suppose it depends what the Mountune kit adds to the value of a standard car....it's £650 that the new owner won't have to spend anyway and it certainly seems like a worthwhile upgrade.

Perhaps there aren't many private cash at this price point - a lot of the ST's seem to be for sale with dealers and the various finance deals on offer to tempt people from a private seller...

I think you're really going to struggle I'm afraid. I work at one of the largest Ford dealers in the country and I only remember selling one ST-1 since launch.

The mountune kit doesn't add any value but might help shift it. Ultimately if you get no calls, it's too expensive.

Just had a look at CAP, about 10 grands worth to the trade.

Cheers for the trade info, the market does seem to be swamped with ST's aplenty which I suppose is inevitable as the 3 yr PCP deals will have come to an end for the 2013 cars. Hopefully one that's been pampered will stand out in the crowd, albeit in ST1 trim...
Will have a think about the pricing though;)

Sadly most pop deals were on st2 and st3s so the st1 is an uncommon and unpopular option.

I think you may have a drop the price a little to get a bite

Cheers, I hadn't heard of Tootle before. I will register and see what sort of offers come forth.
I accept that with the market as it currently is, it will be very much a case of accepting 'Or Nearest Offers' on the car...

A very bad idea to buy poverty spec sports cars if you don't plan to keep them until they're worth under a grand. I think you need to price it cheap (9k) to stand a chance of getting shut of it privately otherwise you'll spend your time chasing the market down as it continues to depreciate. Take the hit, learn from your mistake and move on not making the same mistake again! Always buy the top spec if you can - makes it MUCH easier to sell, especially if you look after them.

Also bear in mind cash sales from private buyers for high amounts are relatively thin on the ground as few people have that kind of disposable cash - most will be wanting/needing to fund with finance.

Cheers to everyone for the input - I ended up doing a deal via Tootle (cheers for the tip) and got a very good trade price for the car (a good bit more than I thought possible from a dealer and a far better offer & experience than dealing with the usual car buying websites).

The idea of having a poverty spec ST appealed to me when I bought it as being good value for money (allied to the fact that an ST1 drives just the same as a ST3) but I accept that most people want well specced' cars - will certainly bear that in mind when buying my next new car....

How much did you get in the end then? Interested in what a "very good trade price" is for an ST1.

Got £10750 which I was very happy with, not much less than I could have hoped for as a private sale....

I disagree with regards to these. I specifically bought an ST-1 so it didn't have keyless entry/go and may actually stay in my possession for more than a week.

(I live in Birmingham and the number I have heard about being stolen is ridiculous)

Think about it.....you have deliberately downgraded the spec of your car, sacrificing convenience and comfort based on the "what if" factor due to the criminal element in our society.
With that attitude you would be better off not buying a car at all and use public transport.

You could've bought a Disklok for £100, problem solved and your car wouldn't be worth £2.50 when you come to sell it.

Each to their own as always.. But I find putting a key in the ignition and turning it, far less inconvenient than having to faff with a disklok.

All for the sake of losing heated seats and half leather. I think I'll cope.
