Mk8 Performance Edition here in Sheffield. Still haven't seen another orange one in the flesh yet. Done just under 3k miles since July due to a lack of commuting.

I have just reserved a Fiesta ST-3 in Silver Fox with LED headlights, I am very excited and think it will be a good daily for me.

Just picked up one of these on a ‘19 for my wife, then had the pleasure of a 50 mile drive home from the dealership in it.

Already told her that if she gets bored of it I’ll have it off her. laugh

Very pleasantly surprised at the handling and it’s got a fair turn of speed for a 1.5l 3 pot.

It’s only an ST2 but she wanted something smaller for the country lanes and I picked this for her.

Had mine since March. Love the performance/handling. Not so keen in the cheap and rattling interior plastics, but the B&O stereo does a good job covering most of that up.

i have the same car! definitely a high-performance star. It’s one of the most fun drivers’ cars you can buy, while also being great value. If any model deserves five stars, this is it.

Thread bump

Any Mk8 owners have any experience or concerns with theft?

A contractor was at work today and was in a mk8 ST I really liked it. I like the look of the orange ones. Hard to justify for my use of 20k miles a year going up and down the motorway for work. But I am pretty good at man maths..
Bloke at work says he can get over 45mpg on the motorway, is that true? I’m getting 55mpg ish in my diesel but with the price difference of diesel and petrol it might not be to bad?

Did 2x 300 mile motorway trip over Easter weekend and averaged about 42mpg on super.

I'd like one but still don't like any of the colours and the plain colours lack pizzaz as the overall design is far more dull than the Mk VII.

The metallic blue is poor next to Spirit Blue and the orange is a bit meh next to the old Focus Mk II sparkly orange.

The new green goes a little way to redressing this but green is so old hat now.

Anyone able to confirm what the OEM tyres are on an ST2?

Wife has 3 different types of tyre on her ST2 following a bad puncture yesterday and it’s now handling like crap. Will check the pressures in the morning as the fitter may have screwed that up but personally, I’d like to replace all the tyres with the correct OEM tyres as the new one is some stty budget brand I’ve never heard of and she already had a pair of non-OEM tyres on the rear.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 205/40 R17 maybe?

Fairly sure the OE tyre off the production line was the PS4. PS5 was launched earlier this year so would be the current equivalent if you couldn't get PS4's.

Cheers for that. Will opt for the PS4 or PS5 when next needed.

She ended up in a Kwikst as it was just around the corner from her at the time. Told her to ensure that she ended up with matching tyres on the front axle as a minimum so the fitter actually followed that instruction at least, but didn’t set the correct pressure on the new tyre, nor add additional pressure to the two rear tyres that were moved to the front.

She should have 36 PSI in the fronts and 32 in the rears, but ended up with 32 fronts, a 36 rear and just 28 PSI in the new tyre that ended up fitted at the rear. No wonder the car felt twitchy and wanted to put me in a ditch when I took it for a spin yesterday to make sure it was OK.

My wife says she didn’t even notice. I did point out that she would have if she’d ended up in a field! Pressures all set correctly now and it’s driving well again. Will just replace the tyre when the other rear needs replacing as it seems alright for now.

Still keep looking at these and watching all the reviews and reading everything I can. Will sit tight and hopefully get a bargain. Plus I’d like to get my old shed to 200k as well.

Mine arrived yesterday been on order since Feb, race red & it’s a hoot.
Just got to get some miles on it but far more nimble than the 280rs I have had for 30 months.

Prices seem firm & 26.5-28 at garages seems crazy, bagged mine for 23.5.

Had my business lease grey 8.5 a few months and 1800 miles, may chop it in for a gr86 very shortly

I like it but don't love it, came from a 8.0 fiesta 140hp stline x

Biggest issue is the steering, its too heavy, too quick and has way too much of that force back to center going on for me. Younger people may like that. The regular mk8 fiestas steering is far better and my st line x 140 was actually quite good. If it could be changed, or remapped easily I'd have that done.

2nd issue is the stock short shifter setup its unnecessary and makes the gearbox a chore to operate, feels like they moved the ball joint on the shifter arm of a std fiesta for a shorter throw. Takes more effort and input needed to shift.

Engine behaves like a diesel. An irritating spike of torque to start, followed by linier and generous torque from low down up to just before it's peak power is due to arrive then there feels about a 500rpm window where the torque drops off suddenly then nothing, then an apologetic 200 hp peak comes in. Makes the engine feel pointless to rev out so to speak. If I were keeping this long term I'd be buying a map from TRS which apparently helps with that spike vs the maps from other companies. Gives it a later torque delivery apparently.

Flywheel feels extremely heavy which is probably necessary for a 3cyl to try counter vibrations. I wasn't expecting a K20, but the engine and gearbox in this can sometimes feel a little slow to work, that said I don't notice any clutch delay or rev hang going on.

No pops and bangs in normal mode which is good and what I spend my time in. Race mode (Jesus...) is useful for immediate all systems off fun but the throttle response becomes sharp and steering even more heavy. And then in sport/race you have the pops and bangs which is pathetic.

Diff is great, reasonable locking action for UK backroads I'd say. Not too aggressive. Does tramline but nothing major and i dont even think about it when pressing on, i had a Focus St mk3 with a ediff which used to literally pull you off the road for no reason. I'd say it's comparable to my old megane 3 rs. Minimal torque steer with its default geometry setup. Just point, load the diff up, and shoot.

Hate the 5 door. Genuinely bash my arse on the door pillar on the way out, often catch my phone when in my pocket on the door pillar too. 6 foot with long legs, short torso.

Hth, little negative but these are the sorts of comments I find useful when looking at cars

Seriously considering one of these for my new B road commute, can anyone confirm any weak points mechanically ie engine/gearbox/turbo etc? The rest I can probably sort out myself wink
