Earlier examples can have engine oil leak issues. Ford revised the engine at least once, newer revisions have a larger oil capacity. Mine had very poor fitting body panels and quite a flimsy/rattling interior which I think is common to all to more or less of a degree. Some may have had a hard life so check the service history is complete for an indication of the previous owners attitude to mechanical sympathy.

Belated thanks, I got one on the end, pan roof, LSD etc dead chuffed with it!!

If it helps anyone that stumbles across this in the future it looks like a known weak point is the engine torque mount as it is a too weedy to cope with the low down grunt this engine produces. You can fit a much beefier version from the mk8.5, obviously Ford have cottoned onto this and upped the spec. Didn't want the numerous solid versions as transmit too much noise into the car.....

I've been considering one of these recently but prefer the look of the earlier ST3 wheels - the sort of 5 spoke ones - to the later style.
What's the difference?
