The silver wear line on the accelerator padal and the squashed and worn leather sure make it look to me like its done far more than 640 miles!!!

Did they just sit in it making broom broom noises? hehe

In the late 80's early 90's Martin Schanche was the dude in one of these motors as far as Europe was concerned... he knows what they are capable of/did achieve. And... so does Will Gollop.
Wasn't Gollop in a 6R4?

Edit... Ah I see what you mean, Gollop was a spectator!

Guy I used to work with had (still has?) one of these - lent it to Jeremy Clarkson to drive on Top Gear - believe he lost it on a bend much to Hammond's mirth.......

I know Fernhurst TVR and just spoke to Drew, the car has a recent Dyno print of 340 bhp.

Proper bit of Rally car and Ford History.
Sounds like the dyno needs to be dyno'd in that case. I used to knock up "dyno" graphs while still at school using my Commodore 64 and dot-matrix printer.

George 500 - no offence taken mate, and thanks for the welcome.

Going back to the topic of RS200s, this one is not worth £70k. Like I said, £50k top whack, and that's provided it comes with a new road fund licence, a tank of fuel and some overmats.

You are obviously an officianado of RS200 values and I am not so I will not argue and I guess that as you are so certain about the fake power output you must know an awful lot more than me about Cossie engines but who is to say that the engine has not been run up to temp regularly or maybe had a fresh rebuild?

Someone I know works in an industrial unit in Shenstone, Staffs and when looking into the history of the building found out that the RS200's were assembled there and there are a couple (at least) buried under the building!!!

That was the list price for a road spec car... a bit like the original Ford GT, the struggled to sell so they went for peanuts.

Old PH article here - http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=103&i=713...

Looking at the advert, it's a 2.1 which makes it the Evolution model. The originals were 1.8. (These engines are Ford BDT by the way, not 'Cossie' YB)

Yep - I have been called Elmo "RS200" Strokes many times in the past. But a few months back, when setting up my PH account I thought I would use my actual middle initial instead (the B is for Barry, if you must know).

I am sure I'm not alone in thinking that there is very little point in arguing when one knows that one is right.

Cheers
Elmo.

IIRC there were 20 "original" Evos and another 4 were converted at a later date.

Quite how you could own this creation and then clock up such a tiny mileage...
The writer of the article has clearly never been behind the wheel of 200...
Two in fact.

First car had just over 300bhp, but needed a bit of sorting. It felt fast, but was really heavy to drive and a lot of work. I can see where the reputation comes from when they're in this state as I wouldn't fancy trying to get it out of a slide...

Since then, I've been fortunate enough to get some good miles in the Ford Heritage fleet example, which has been lovingly restored apart from the engine. Although 'Magic' at Ford reckons it barely puts out 200bhp - and it doesn't feel any faster than a modern turbo hatch to be honest - it handles beautifully, with fairly light controls and a great sense of balance. It can still be hard work, and the clutch is a pain in traffic, but the drive added to the thrill of being in a genuine RS200 makes it one of the most satisfying cars I've driven.
